We had toekick drawers at our last house and found them very useful - thanks Gardenweb! The baking one held cookie cutters, sprinkles, and other smaller or seasonal stuff. The one here held platters. I had another one for table linens, etc. It isn't too obvious in this pic, but my toekick drawers had a lip at the top. I would just open the drawer with my toe because, at 6', I didn't want to be down there looking for a handle. Even at my height, I didn't have any problem reaching the stuff in the drawer (because I was reaching from the top and the drawer is shallow enough that you aren't rifling through it looking for a plethora of items), but I didn't store anything in there that I'd use every day. Note that our tile was installed under the cabinetry (otherwise the drawer may run into the flooring). When we sold the house, these were the sorts of things that drew raves about functionality.

Did any of you do one pull and wish you had two? I have one pull on all drawers, no matter what the width. I have 27s, 30s and 33s. Not even for one second did I regret going with one only. I'm into convenience, form following function, etc. I don't know if a drawer would get messed up if you only pull one when you have two installed, since you're always pulling from the one side, but I don't want to find out the hard way. Anyway, I like the look of one pull only. So for those trying to decide, I'd say to ask yourself the following questions: -- Do I like the look of two better than one? -- Do I like that look enough to make it worth having to use two hands to open the drawer every time? Only you can answer for yourself, there's no right or wrong answer except as it applies to your own situation. I will say that having had kitchens where two hands were required for things that could have been accomplished with one, there's just no contest.

The only caution I would think of for using them would be a functional one. I'd really hate to get stabbed by fork tines or a knife blade from brushing against the lower cabinets. Bar type pulls are notorious for snagging your clothes, and these are basically bar type pulls with more lethality built in! I'd be afraid of the ripped and snagged clothes and occasional blood loss if I put them on the lowers---unless you extended your counters out a bit more than standard to keep your hips away from them.
