Comments (44)Here's a link to my blog. I use blogger. There are plenty of options on page layouts and color choices to select from and you can change your format anytime. My blog is geared toward the general stuff in life. My kid, my house, general nothing-ness. Mostly for sharing stories and photos for my family & friends since I live 2 and 3 hours away from them and don't get to have weekly visits to grandma & grandpa's house like I did when I grew up. As for how often do I post & what topics come best? I average about 1-2 posts a week. Sometimes a couple more, sometimes less...just depends on what happens around here. Just look at my tags on the blog and you can see the things I post about most...my daughter and my house. I just keep things simple and don't over-think any post. Comments (26)I showed this to the missus and she has a theory. It is a 'safe room'. You cannot see the short wall that goes back to the windows, but it would be there. Camera and motion detector? They are there so that when in the safe room you can see everything that is going on outside that room. If you look closely, there is a light reflection on the floor when the door is open. Look closer and you can see the light (probably florescent) within the room. That door shows that it is not that thick, but it would provide a bit so safe refuge should it be necessary. Comments (12)These aren't that rare in some places. About 15 years ago, we were on a driving vacation in Europe. The car rental co. had upgraded us to a Mercedes. which was fine with me. At one medium-sized hotel in an urban center in Germany we had reserved, there was a small driveway I pulled into to register. I asked "Where is the car park?" and was told "just pull forward into the opening, the elevator will take you down to the garage". I'm thinking, what? The "opening" was like a very tight garage portal into the building. I inspected it first- it allowed about 6 inches of leeway for each side and front/back for the car I had. Sweat streaming down my face, I pulled in carefully (which a lot of backs and forths), rolled the window down to push the down button, and took the ride down. After the platform stopped and I backed out, I found myself in a large underground lot with parking for >40 cars. And yes, the only access was this tiny elevator. Comments (11)When I was doing real estate appraisals in SoCal, I appraised a house in Whittier that had a pool table that lowered into a temperature-and-humidity-controlled vault. The owners spent a small fortune on that feature, but, unfortunately, it didn't add nearly as much value to the house. Not a big demand for pool tables, much less one that lowers into a vault like that....See More

We renovated the 1980s kitchen a few months ago.
We knew that we would have to change things. Wallpaper and indoor/outdoor carpet and that horrible thing with the ceiling.
This is now, looking from the opposite direction.
