Vinyl flooring getting bad

last modified: 7 years ago

My vinyl flooring on
the ground floor is getting bad (cracks, curl ups, etc.) and I need advice on
what to do about it.

The vinyl flooring
covers the hallway, kitchen, bath, and closet. The rooms (living room, dining
room, family room) have wall-to-wall carpets.

First of all, can I repair the
vinyl flooring? It is only 16 years old!

If I have to replace
the vinyl flooring, are my options limited to vinyl, linoleum or laminate flooring? I
don't want a height difference with the carpeted rooms!

The vinyl flooring
in the closet and bath are in very good shape for some reason and look very
good. Can I leave the vinyl flooring in the closet and bath and replace the
flooring in the hallway and kitchen? Will the seams between existing and new
flooring hold up well? Can the seam be reliably sealed?

Thanks!
