Need help!! Bad Contractor job on vinyl window hail damage
Comments (21)Update: One window guy came out, never got back to me, second one says he can remove that middle transom, send to a factory, have them make a replacement with the same glass (several hundred dollars probably), and third guy (and the first guy) said no way to remove just that middle window, have to replace the whole thing, that the window is wrapped with a metal piece and screwed together so no way to access the window and remove it. Last guy says he has been in business 35 years and the company he works for 30 years so knows windows. Says $3600 for a whole new alliance window (apparently the current window is certainteed and Alliance bought them). He also says he is really good with getting the insurance companies to pay up even though it is past the 12 month limit they put in their paperwork. I hope he is right!!...See MoreVinyl vs Laminate flooring- Which one's the best bad choice?
Comments (18)I would say that it just depends. The best thing would be to talk to a realtor in your area as there are a lot of factors that can go into this. It depends on what level of house you have and the neighborhood it is in. Who would most likely purchase your house? If your house is higher end and would likely appeal to a family that is established and has a decent income, vinyl or laminate could both be a very poor choice. However, if your home is on the smaller side and most likely to appeal to a family just starting out, then either one could be acceptable....See MoreVinyl flooring in the kitchen of a holiday home - good or bad idea?
Comments (3)The vinyl will act as a moisture barrier. It will trap moisture below it. Moisture that does not evaporate and dry off will lead to mold and mildew. Over wet slabs is not good. You can grind and polish the slab or install tile over it. All other types of flooring would be risky. Engineered wood flooring is an option but you will need to install Fidbox bluetooth moisture meters per 1000 sq. ft., and de/humidifier system to help monitor and control the moisture level when you are away. At least that will give you some peace of mind. I would avoid carpet and plastic....See MoreDid our flooring guys do a bad job or are we just being extra?
Comments (2)not sure - i know they also used a roller but saw one guy brushing along the edges and i guess in some of the closets while the other guy used the roller for the main/middle part of the floors...See Moreitsnatzen
