The flooring has not been chosen yet. That means the material spec and pricing is not yet written into the contract. You don't have a contract until you have a price proposal with specific bill of materials and labor to be performed, then you sign it. How is your contract written? What language is in there to ensure the contractor's commission is covered? Is this a cost plus commission project? Do you see every invoice from every sub and then pay it with a percentage fee to the general? Tell your contractor that the flooring line items are to be removed from the scope of work. You're not bound to a contract unless the materials are specified, cost is proposed, and you sign the actual proposal. The contract is with the store for this work. The general contractor is just a sales rep for them.

The flush mount vent job is hideous looking. didnt sand it properly, huge gobs of filler still there. some of the heavier edger scratches are bad. although some of the buffer swirls dont look too bad. heres the issue. NWFA has a 5-2 rule. From a standing position 5ft up, to 2 ft out if you can visually see scratches its not acceptable. Because you took many pictures of the scratches up close, its hard to say if those would "pass". Now thats not to say theres nothing to be done, the vent issue is enough in my opinion to have the guys come back out. the stain splatters on the wall along with the holes, if you can prove the holes werent there prior to the refinish job then thats something they should fix as well. But because you paid the guys in full already, they may not answer their phone. But if they were a legit company they will get their behinds back out there to address the issue. Make the phone call and then take it from there.

Cut off the flowers and all the blooms, try to leave 3 to 4 Leaves on and as many roots as you can. Get some sphagnum moss, soak it in water (with a wee bit of Quick Start from Miracle Gro) for 10 mins. Wring out the moss until it's just damp and put the moss and the plant in a vegetable plastic bag like the ones you get when you go veggie shopping. Note: If the orchid has a lot of roots, you can try and re-pot for the time being, until they get going again. If just a few roots left, you can leave in a sealed plastic bag until you see new roots have come out. The bag will act as a mini greenhouse and will keep the root system and the plant moist. Use just enough moss to mix in loosely with the plants root system. Do Not Pack it in or you'll smother it. The balance of air in the bag along with the moist sphagnum moss will be what keeps it thriving, and the Quick Start (just a drop) which has vitamin B will will give it the boost it needs to keep going. Here's one I'm trying to save, have only a few good roots left due to root rot. Here's a Phal that's in serious trouble, no bottom roots left but only a couple of small stubs just below the leaves which are shriveled and dying. This one will be a challenge. Good Luck

We have that same tile on our shower floor in one of the bathrooms that hubby and I remodeled. Ours was a diy job and we are very experienced DIYers. When it came to laying that floor we struggled and struggled when we were doing our mock layout, we could NOT get it to where we couldn’t see seams. I threw my hands up in the air and proceeded to pull off every darn rock off each sheet and we hand set every darn rock. It turned out fantastic (except for a couple of spots where we wiped away too much of the grout during that part of the job, so water likes to pool in those low spots now... sigh... it was the first time we’d ever done that kind of floor though, live and learn, and maybe one day we will chip out the grout there and redo it, for now I just use a little extra bleach when I clean there.) But yeah, I’ve seen more jobs done incorrectly with those sheets of random rocks than done correctly. I hear there’s a way to just pull of some of the rocks but not all of them so that you kind of fill in those lines, but I discovered that after the fact.
