no tree magically stops growing at a given height most size estimates are at 10 years ... and are twice as large in 20 years ... its all about the annual growth rate.. how fast it gets to height.. and beyond ... at the link.. learn about such in the section titled: conifer sizes . i do not have time to research the growth rates of those you note .... and i do note.. many yellows do not color properly in to much shade .... all that said.. i would rather you buy a plant that tickles your fancy for ten years.. and then you get rid of it.. rather than buy some plain old things that fits there ... eh??? ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

Went to Edwin this Saturday to buy a first batch. Here's a picture of a variegated cypress that is a reversion I let go - for now I've seen other examples of that same - or a similar - variegated Sawara* producing a tree habit. I don't know what the correct naming of the cultivar is. And I spent some time looking into it, some years ago. At that time at least it was another one of those garden plant identification subjects where printed photos and descriptions don't match the material at hand. Trying again now with the web being so much in the picture might produce a different outcome. Anyway since it is basically the same foliage on a differently shaped plant I don't know that I would call it a reversion. And I certainly like the cultivar as a small conical tree better than the tuffet it comes from the nursery as. *Sawara cultivars are often quite polymorphic and unstable

This is the largest Blue Shag specimen I have seen (I believe it is at an arboretum in Wisconsin, someone here posted a pic a year or two ago, and it is even bigger now). Google image shows nearly all smaller specimens. It does well in Columbus, Ohio which is fairly humid. Slow grower though, mine has been in the ground/on the mound 4 years.September August (half price big box p. pungens globosa in background, yeah baby!) P. Abies Clanbrassiliana is left most conifer (small/currently more spherical but will turn pyramidal with age).
