OT update
Comments (9)Oh my, I had no idea you were literally so laid up...or rather laid down. That and the pain must be making you want to go crazy. I am so sorry to hear about all the back issues, and praying the injection works. I second what the others said about your DH buying the IPAD. Whatta guy!! Hang in there, and always remember we love and miss you here. hugs, Karen...See Morecoping with the pain of spinal alteral recess stenosis

Comments (27)Well thank you all for your input. I do tend to be a bit pessimistic, thinking that the surgeon is telling her to go ahead with it, I mean, what is he supposed to say?? That's what he does. But then again, like mimipad says, we have no way of knowing the outcome. I will try and be positive for her, but it's so damn hard some times. I just feel like she's a pawn in the game of life right now....she's depressed about losing my mom, she's depressed at not being able to work, she's depressed at being broke, and I'm afraid she'll listen to whatever someone has to say, she's that desperate. sigh...........See MoreWhy PT for Spinal Stenosis?
Comments (25)One more comment, if I may. In your OP you said: "I've looked at this type of exercise online and do not see how they can possibly do more than briefly relieve the pain of stenosis crushing nerves in my lumbar and sacral regions." A good physiotherapist will design an individual exercise program specifically for you and your needs and for your level of ability/disability. Think of it as an architect-designed program rather than one put out by a tract builder 😉 He/she will give you a regular program to do at home every day. She might recommend some inexpensive aids (I have a "spiky ball" that works wonders on ultra tight hip and back muscles). Something as simple as sleeping on my back with a pillow under my knees to change my back posture at night helped me quite a bit. Remember, the whole objective is to make your muscles carry more of the load, and over time, that will indeed help with pain levels. It's not like a drug, so don't expect instant relief, but it will help, and if worst comes to worst, it will make you better prepared for surgery....See Moresjerin
