Tulip purse finished

Here is the Tulip purse I started a couple of weeks ago. The pattern has four sizes - petite, standard, large and jumbo - this one is the standard size. Their description of standard is "melon-size".

Front - it has a flap with a magnetic clasp. There is an exterior pocket the width of the purse:

Back - it also has an exterior pocket the width of the purse:

And the inside. I chose to put pockets on two sides. I also made them deeper than the pattern called for.

I made the straps quite a bit longer than the pattern so I can hang it on my shoulder. They aren't long enough to be cross-body, though.

Yay! I finished something this month!

I like, I like!!! That would be great for keeping my oils in. I'll have to check around for the pattern. TFS

Thanks, I love the colors too, especially since where I live people mostly wear a lot of darker clothing (below freezing about half the year), so I look to accessories for some color.

Fran...you're back? How was your trip? Jen, the "pattern" is sort of one I drafted for myself. Mom's turned out a little smaller...mine is bigger. If she wants a larger bag, I will keep the small one for myself and make her a bigger one. They only take a couple of hours to make. I just measure the size I want them to be, square off the bottom, then measure the length of handles from another bag I like. I lined mine, but serged mom's front, heavy interfacing, and lining all together and treated it all as one piece - easier, faster, neater. Sometimes I put a pocket on the inside, these I did not. I liked adding the top "cuff" of another fabric in a coordinating color. Yes, a project finished in one day is gratifying!

Thanks, everyone! Sharon, the pattern is Two Hour Tulip Purse by Anything But Boring.

It turns out I got a really (I mean REALLY) wimpy magnet clasp from JoAnn's. I'll probably take it off and change to a button closure.

It was easy to make, but the pattern instructions aren't the best. It could use more illustrations, and it seems like they assume you are an experienced sew-er.
