Summer purse fun!

Yes, I know I'm supposed to be working on my quilt projects, or cleaning the house, or organizing my sewing room - but I got sidetracked making these two purses this weekend.

The top one is for my mom, made from home dec fabric. The bottom one is mine made from a previous Sunbrella furniture fabric.

Is the bottom one a pattern from Keepsake? I picked up a pattern from them... looks just like that.

Weekend well spent, in my opinion. lol

Great bags, Teresa! It's fun to finish something that's quicker than a quilt once in awhile.

THANK YOU for your comments. I've been busy with my new grandbaby lately but will be posting more photos soon. About the frogs: They really are our 'pets' as strange as that sounds. I have 2 watergardens which are all natural and have no filtration systems so the frogs come from everywhere to take a dip. Each little pond has about a dozen or so 'residents' which stay all summer. They are fun to watch since they like to cuddle up when they climb onto the rocks to bask in the sun. They are incredibly tame and don't mind my getting right up close. I really enjoy them. Celeste

Fun purse - duct tape

Years ago I made my hubby a duct tape wallet... it looked great, but with a few days' use, the stickum side of the tape "oozed" a bit an exposed sticky lines. So much for all that work - LOL! Have you seen all the clothes made with duct tape? Teens even have contests and make their prom dresses with the stuff!

Incredibly fun - even on a small hill. I even went down twice. The kids would have kept doing it all afternoon, but we didn't have a water supply. We trekked water over in our wagons and buckets so when it ran out, we refilled once more. Each kid got about 10 or 15 turns. Also, I just bought the cheap poly sheeting and it was pretty torn up by the end, so it would be worth it to do the more expensive heavy duty poly. Sorry no pics, but I would highly recommend.

Jen, the "pattern" is sort of one I drafted for myself. Mom's turned out a little smaller...mine is bigger. If she wants a larger bag, I will keep the small one for myself and make her a bigger one. They only take a couple of hours to make. I just measure the size I want them to be, square off the bottom, then measure the length of handles from another bag I like. I lined mine, but serged mom's front, heavy interfacing, and lining all together and treated it all as one piece - easier, faster, neater. Sometimes I put a pocket on the inside, these I did not.

I liked adding the top "cuff" of another fabric in a coordinating color.
Yes, a project finished in one day is gratifying!

Those look great Teresa. I have several purse patterns but so far the only one I've made is the ying yang and I have nothing to wear it with--just wanted to make one.
