Can someone diagnose my lemon plant

It's been having problems lately where the edges of the leafs start to lose color and fall off. It hasn't had much sun the last few days because of rain and I think that it was overwatered before that because it's been happening for about 2 weeks now but I haven't watered it in a while. It's only a few months old can someone diagnose it?

Sunburn maybe? Did you take it outside suddenly?

Looks to me like damage due to salt buildup. Pour lots of water through the soil. In the future, when you water, make sure some water drains out.

How much fertilizer are you using and how often?

FWIW - how well a soil drains has little to do with the fact that water flows through the soil and out the drain holes. The key is how much water the soil retains, and in particular, how tall the layer of soggy soil at the bottom of the container is. It's not uncommon for commercially prepared soils based on peat or other fine composted products to support 6" or more of perched water. This means that after saturating the soil, up to 6" of it could be completely saturated, and would remain that way until it evaporates or it's used by the plant. Unfortunately, a lot of water in the soil inhibits water uptake AND root function, often causing symptoms exactly like those in the picture you posted. I'll leave you a link that emphasizes the importance of a soil's structure and it's ability to hold enough air to keep the root system happy to your ability to consistently bring along healthy plant material. Not sure. Are the new leaves getting too hot from the lights? This time of year I would think you'd want to encourage dormancy by using shorter day lengths. It could just be reacting to the different environment.

Those are definitely new branches, I might pick off the small lemons to let it direct the energy to recovery, especially with the mites. Be careful with the dawn dish soap as it can damage the leaves. If they're that bad, I would probably be inclined to do a full plant soak if the tree is small enough the next time it needs to be watered. Just enclose the pot in a mesh to keep in the soil and submerge the whole thing, pot, leaves, and all for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Then pull it up and let it drain. I don't do that often, or recommend it as a first pass, but as a last resort it does work well. I had a brush cherry that got infested with the red spidermite that lives outside in my area and it was the only thing that killed them all. I have not had any come back since doing so. Adding a single drop of dawn to a bathtub full of water can help kill any that might make it to the edge of the tub, but I wouldn't recommend more than that.

I think Vladimir hit it on the nose. Soluble salts are removed from the medium by only two means, up-take by the roots, and flushing the medium with clean clear water. The present container that the little tree is growing in is much to big for such a small tree. The small root system of that tree does not begin to fill much of that container, and therefore cannot take up (remove) the soluble salts from most of the container, therefore they just build up . - Silica

I transferred that plant into the new pot about a month ago. Could I also repot the tree? Would that fix the problem? I didn't know if the fungus on the top of the soil had anything to do with it, I also found the same orange fungus in the drainage holes

It is nice to learn so much from the kwoledgeable and helpful friends on this forum. I had no idea that was salt buildup. If you have it in potting soil, definitely repot. Most of us here us the 5-1-1 mix. If you search the forum, you will find the ingredients. It is not hard at all to make.

Repotting into a smaller container will help. The fungus has nothing to do with your problem.
