Want dark walls, but scared..is it out of to have 1 darker wall
Comments (5)Thank you all so much for the help and encouragement. My husband can't believe how much I agonize over every decision. Seems like he would be used to it after 43 years..LOL Anyway, I took the plunge today. We do have lots of natural light with 9 ft. and 13 ft. ceilings. The kitchen, family and dining are all open to each other. Here is what I picked; 1. SW Pewter Green for Kitchen [2 walls] 2. SW Brevity Brown for Dining Room 3. Sw Latte for Family, hall and Master bedroom 4. SW Navajo White for all ceilings and master bath walls. 5. all trim will be SW Alabaster or SW Creamy 6. Office/bedroom..1 wall the Pewter green, other 3 Latte 7. Spare bedroom and guest bath will be a silvery med. blue. I had a color chip from another company and can't remember the name, but they are going to match. I am as nervious as can be about all this. The only other thing I can't decide I am going to ask in a separate post. Again, thank you all and Sweeby...love your style!...See MoreWall color for dark gray couch with yellow accent pillows
Comments (8)I would change out the pillows on the sofa (or at least add a pillow) that has a print with some of the blue you want to incorporate into the room. I would do a lighter gray on the walls in the living room with a darker version of the blue on the accent wall, then I'd carry the lighter blue into the kitchen. I love yellow but I would only use it for accents on fabrics or art because its hard to find a yellow wall color like the one in your pillows that works well on walls. It is usually either too stark or too bright....See MoreNeed a Beige to Pair with SW Sea Salt
Comments (25)So we went with the Maison Blanche/Sea Salt combo, and it looks fantastic! I will try to post pics. tomorrow. I have to say that as much as I absolutely love how these two colors turned out, they look almost nothing like the poster board samples I painted and held up all over the place! The Maison Blanche was lighter than I expected, which turned out to be a good thing and really helps to lighten the room. I had read what a chameleon color Sea Salt can be but was still surprised to find that it reads much more blue than my samples, which read green. Paint colors can be crazy! Thank you all again for the wonderful tips and suggestions. And extra special thanks to Tibbrix for introducing me to my beige winner, Maison Blanche. :) Darcy, great question about the accent wall. Initially, I wanted to paint the entire area in Sea Salt. After much consideration, hubs and I feared that it wouldn't be neutral enough for us because there is so much white trim in the whole area to make the color pop. And...he and I are not very daring. This is the first time in 20 years of marriage that we've had any paint color in our family room other than grey or beige. ;) We actually ended up doing the family room accent fireplace wall in Sea Salt as well as the area around the white kitchen cabinets (which is at the opposite end of the entire area.) I was nervous that it would break things up too much, but it really turned out beautifully. I bet your downstairs looks amazing. Maybe next time I can be braver!...See MoreWant to paint a smaller LR in SW Sea Salt but my sofa is a maroon colo
Comments (13)It seems you are in love with Sea Salt. I don’t blame you, it’s a wonderful color. Blue in some lighting, green in others, it’s soft and breezy. I still don’t think it’s a great color for a living room (maroon included or not) and it’s so light it probably won’t be visible in the hallway at all, BUT... it would be pretty with the white cabinets in your kitchen and with the black and white floors in your bath. Comfort Gray, which is one shade darker on the strip is just a little darker version of the Sea Salt and is quite pretty as well. As I mentioned earlier, we had the Sea Salt in our new master bath, however the lighting in there wasn’t a good match and too dark especially in the winter. We repainted with the Comfort Gray and that did the trick. This blog has some great gray tones that I think would give you that light airy feel your seeking but will not clash with the tones in your sofa. BM Gray Owl is a stunning gray that’s pretty popular. (And SW can mix BM colors) As you can see from the pic below, it’s beautiful. https://graceandloveblog.com/2015/03/04/fifty-shades-of-gray-paint/...See Moredecormyhomepls
