Top 10 signs you're in for a princess DYI remodel experience
Comments (12)Here's My Top 10 list of the "Princess DIY" 10--You own three pairs of Timberland work boots, all in tan. 9--One full drawer in your dresser holds "renovation" clothing of questionable origin. 8--Your workbench area has two different tool belts for different times of the month. 7--You compare Paslode horror stories with your carpenter and the ensuing emergency measures required. 6--You stop by Home Depot for a few nails and other customers assume you work there and start asking you questions--which you graciously answer. 5--At parties, you find yourself telling your friends about the contractor "eye candy" appearing weekdays from 7am to 9am in their natural habitat at Home Depot. You tell everyone...it's a must see. 4--You realize that you now possess 6 power drills. Like rabbits, they seem to multiply. 3--You ask for one of those cute red sweatshirts that all the staffers at the local lumber yard wear as uniforms so you can wear it with your thong on the beach next summer. 2--You serve mid-afternoon espresso to the crew putting in your new windows. 1--Last preps before starting renovation--mascara and fresh lipstick....See MoreMy window exodus/experience so far ...

Comments (32)My island is 4 x 9 and it's a centerpiece of the kitchen. I have a large sink (the only one in the kitchen) in it, and the range is pretty much across on the counter run. I have 4 ft of counter to the left of the sink (prep zone), and 2 ft of counter to the right (cleanup zone). Pretty much all prep happens to the left of the sink, counter space around the range is just landing space or quick staging. Here's my kitchen: https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5405111/four-years-and-two-babies-laterthe-kitchen-is-finally-almost-ready#22641193 I think you will find the utility of your kitchen reduced if there is no water source on your main prep space. I've heard people advocate passionately for a "large, open prep space" but I haven't yet found a way to prep without water, and it seems like a hassle to have to constantly cross the aisle to wash, to prep, and to move to the range. Try to re-enact your typical meal prep sequence and see what you think. We had no problem finding a 9+ ft long slab. I will say that islands wider than 4 ft seem like a hassle to clean. I am nearly six feet tall, and I don't really clean but on occasions that I do, I can't reach to the other end of the island, and it's a pain to have to walk around it to clean it....See Morewindows 10 feature update my computer started acting up
Comments (11)In Edge, clicking on three dots at upper right of screen or Alt-X sequence brings up the menu. Click on Settings, General, then scroll down, you come upon options for downloads. Where to save, and whether to have a pop-up ask what to do with a triggered download. I've long found it useful and easiest to create a first tier folder called C:\Download folder. That way, I can quickly get to anything that's been downloaded without having to click, click, click through unneeded layers with obscure names in the folder tree to get to what I want. Additionally, with Alt-X or the three dot entry method, another selection is Downloads. Click on that and you can see downloaded file history, open a downloaded file, examine the folder it is in through WIndows Explorer, etc....See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
