HAVE: Hoya lacunosa 'Royal Flush'
Comments (2)Hi okie_deb, How about H. serpens? It wouldn't be a really big cutting as it has not really started to trail much let. There may be the possibility of more than one cutting or maybe even a rooted piece, I'd have to check. It's getting a little chilly up here in WI so we would have to do it quick if you are interested. I think it's still okay though. LMK, thanks, Catrina...See MoreMy first Hoya -- bella or lacunosa?
Comments (5)Yeah, I did some research and it's lacunosa. Thanks, guys. If I went from a nice cozy FL greenhouse, got stuck on a dark, crowded, unheated truck in March, stuck in a cold, dark spot, then transported to a warmer (60s at the moment) place and given a tepid shower, I'd drop *my* flowers, I'll tell ya. Pirate Girl, I used to hang out at the AV forum. I have pH difficulties, and sadly dumped all my AVs. Now I'm growing *everything* else; orchids, mini Begonias, an Episcia, some Chirita tamianas, mini Sinningias, and my first Cryptanthus, among others. :-) At least these plants like me. Comments (11)Awesome pics!!! Isn't it amazing that you don't see that much detail until you look at the pictures? I had no idea lacunosa flowers were so "furry" until I looked at the pictures I took! By the way, the picture you caught of that one flower is really neat looking! I love getting pics of blooms in different stages of opening :) It's a good thing you caught it on camera, cause I'm sure it's fully reflexed by now. Thanks for sharing! Gabi...See MoreHoya lacunosa
Comments (7)Hi Jeff, Lacunosa is a good choice. I would put it in an east window - if you can hang it right in the window, that would be idea, but it will do ok to hang to the side, too. I put little teacup hooks (that's what I call them...) in the center of my woodwork directly above each window so that every window has a plant centered right in front of (and practically against) the glass. Hoyas really like that few hours of morning sun they get in an east window. There's no need to prune lacunosa unless you want to start cuttings. Just let it grow. Mine hangs about 2' out of the pot. Your soil mix sounds fine. Lacunosa doesn't like to get too dry, so water it as it begins to dry out. Mine gets watered about once a week, but it's in a north window. In an east window, it might need to be watered a little more often. Good luck with your first Hoya. And watch out for the addiction that comes with falling in love with your first Hoya!
