Help Identify - Brown/Yellow Dying Grass Killing My Lawn
Comments (10)"When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." I think that came out wrong. I was not hinting at anything you said. I was setting up for what I was about to say. My hammer is corn meal, which in the organic world is recognized as a fungal disease preventer and cure. The nail is your yellow grass. When I see the yellow grass, I assume it is a fungal problem. I can see where that could easily be misinterpreted. Sorry. YES, you have to wait until late summer to reseed. Why? Well you don't have to but if you want good results, wait. Seeding now will give you a yard full of crabgrass right away and later on, any grass that did germinate will die from the heat allowing the crabgrass to fully take over. If you want to fix that for the future, you could seed in some Kentucky bluegrass in the late summer. It will spread to fill in weak spots where fescues do not spread....See MoreConverting Centipede to Bermuda, need help?!
Comments (67)It may just look like it's no lateral growth. Your runners are green just like your grass, very hard to see - especially since your are mowing higher. They reach out a little bit, drop roots in the soil, then repeat. In my picture above from 6/30 you can see the stolons if you look close enough. They look completely different from the stolon of the native bermuda I have. There is no browning in our newer grass, so look really hard & you should see them. Did you change mowers? Are you using a rotary mower? Your cut grass look butchered compared to last week's clean cuts....See MoreI think we have Centipedes!
Comments (19)No centipedes, but gack! Silverfish! Never saw one before moving in here, but was getting a number running around on the bathroom floor in the night. Party! I was diligent killing everyone I could and after about 1 1/2 years, didn't see anymore. Until about 3 weeks ago! I had just been congratulating myself that it was great that they were gone and the next day a fat one ran out and back under the hot water baseboard. And I've seen and killed one nearly every night since. Sorry - didn't mean to hijack but house critters are so disturbing. I would have nightmares with the Recluse spiders.......See MoreCan you please help me identify mid-century furnitures and others...
Comments (20)Helen, really thank you very much for your input. Helped a lot to research more. I am not expert either of course and I just try to gather information that many times is confusing. I will definitely do as you suggest to contact galleries and auction houses to see if they are interested in the objects. Now I am in the documentation/research phase. Oliviag, very correct your remarks. This is what I think as well. There is something Grecian/Neoclassical but the angels and gold colors make it more baroque/rococo. The Hollywood regency term is also very interesting. I will look on that. Bisque term is also something new to me. Thanks! Also thank you for the condolences. Much appreciated. Indeed she had a great influence to my life, her, as well as all the products that I used to observe when I was little and everything looked so huge, so strange in the dim, warm light she used to have at home. A kind of goldish warm feeling. I have very mixed feelings letting everything go but objects need to serve the right place in the right moment. And these objects did that very well. Life moves on. With a part of the money, I plan to buy a nice mechanical (60s like) watch to remember her. A kind of transformation....See MoreTS Garp
