Help with townhouse living/dining room!
Comments (5)Thank you both for your comments & suggestions! I like that layout idea...I was picturing walking in to the living room and having the tv on that wall. I will have to try turning the furniture to see if it feels too cramped. I was thinking of a chaise sofa as well so I like that you incorporated one. I love the idea of an island in the kitchen. I think it will be hard to maTch the cabinetry so maybe a contrasting color? As far as the backsplash goes I was hoping to pull the gray out of the granite but I will also look at beige tiles. I was thinking a simpler tile style & pattern would be best so it doesn’t draw attention from the granite. Do anyone have any color scheme ideas? I was hoping for a neutral coastal vibe. Here’s a couple color ideas I found online... Will these colors make it seem too dark? I was thinking the blues or greens for the bathroom and bedrooms and a neutral for the living/dining and kitchen....See MoreHelp! Long, narrow dining/living room!!!
Comments (6)Here is the current layout. Where the TV is now is going to be a fireplace in the near future. I have this as the focal point for the sofas at the moment, but because the room is so long there is a bit of empty space behind it. I have a console table back there currently. Wondering about added a shelf or plantstand or hanging plant, or just wall art to balance the room. Thinking also of hanging curtains as well. Will update again when the fireplace is finished. Planning to get rid of the tall lamp and replace it with a new one soon....See MoreFurniture Arrangement - Narrow Living Room w/ Corner Fireplace. Help!
Comments (3)Ok, so here’s some ideas you may not have though of. Flip flop the dining room with the living. Depending on how your breakfast bar is done, you child just mount the tv there. Build a divider wall on top of the current bar, but leaving it open. In one photo, the tv can spin so someone could watch the tv while in the kitchen. Do a divider wall again on top of the breakfast bar but only go halfway across allowing for the person in the kitchen to still be able to see out. You could have a small divider in between the two rooms perpendicular to the sliders or you could place a lift tv cabinet there. Lots of options-just depends on what will work as far as electrical/cable access....See MoreSomewhat narrow Living/Dining Room Layout help
Comments (2)Your rectangle is 18' 10" wide and about 24' long ? You'll have more options if you put your tv on a portable stand rather than hanging it on the wall or set atop a console. Then you could angle it in the corner and face your sofa toward the slider with one end of the sofa against an end table against one of the walls to create a room divider. You might invest in some graph paper for drawing the room to scale -- or print it out drawn to scale -- and then invest in some heavier card stock to cut out the size and shape of each piece of furniture you already have so you can move the pieces around on the floor plan without lifting furniture (and/or invest in sliders). A sectional limits the options for furniture placement and, if any part of it is stained or damaged then you're needing to replace a lot of seating or live with it....See Morenosoccermom
