Can I relocate my antique rose bush now?
Comments (8)Now is not a good time to move a rose on Cape Cod. It is in the midst of its growing season and will be putting its energy into top growth not establishing roots. Are you certain that the problem is not enough sun? Right now roses on the Cape have been devastated by the winter moth and the other caterpillar that is devouring the new growth. I would guess that the rose is being badly damaged by these pests. Check the rose carefully and remove and destroy any caterpillars on the rose. Check every day for new ones and remove them. Give the rose lots of water; we have not had any rain in over a week and I noticed that all my roses are needing a good drink as I have been away for a week. Go to Country Garden or what ever garden center is close to you and buy fish emulsion with seaweed. Follow the directions on the label for feeding and give the rose a feeding every other week. Make sure you give it plenty of water. I have all my roses in pots in the shade because they don't dry out as fast and they are doing fine. I would wait to transplant the rose until the fall after it goes dormant or next April before it breaks dormancy. Make sure you dig a BIG hole and add an entire bag of composted cow manure or whatever you can get at the garden center to the hole along with a couple of cups of Rose Tone. Mix it well with the sandy soil in the hole and plant the rose. Comments (1)Max, I imagine you have a tax id#,right? Are you in Maryland? You should check to see where your "Gift Mart" is. I think the closest to you will be in Pennsylvania. There are vendors that you can buy your items from wholesale, there are many garden type furniture companies to choose from. I'm in Minnesota, and there is a mart here, but there are different vendors at each show, I do not carry this type of item, but that may help you. Good luck....See Morewhere can I sell my plants?
Comments (2)Flea market is a good suggestion. Also any of the local weekend Farmers Markets. Not sure where you are located but Waterford Lakes is doing a Farmers' Market on Saturdays that's pretty well attended. There's a plant dealer there now but mostly ornamental house plant stuff. I would think the nanas, pineapples, etc might do well. Kate...See Morehelp me ID my recent antique shop finds --- modern furniture.
Comments (0)I went shopping and stopped by some antique stores and picked up a few pieces that I feel in love with and I got that at what I think is a steal. but can anyone help me ID the designer or manufacture? 1st piece a black leather and molded walnut lounger... quality is a 9/10... truly stunning piece 2nd piece is a pair of club chairs, chrome frame 8/10 but upholstery really needs re-doing. We think these could be milo baughman but are not sure and lastly a pair of occasional chairs... Chrome frame 4/10 (could be re-chromed and be perfect) fabric 5/10 but really need to be re upholstered. Again we think these could be Milo Boughman...See More- 7 years ago
