agree with ravencajun that there are some really nice handhelds out there that rival or even beat a basic fixed head, plus their utility for cleaning is critical to me. Another option is to place the handheld on a slide bar so you can adjust to different heights. This is especially nice for kids or folks with very different heights. Unless you have a wide tub, I would be inclined to go with a really nice handheld on a bar and the tub spout, otherwise as linelle pointed out it will get busy with so many fixtures. Plus you will need additional diverter valves and trim for extra fixtures and you may decide that money might be better spent on upgrading the shower head (or some other part of your redo) We went all out in ours, but it is a good sized shower only - but you can see what it looks like in the picture below with two fixtures on one wall. Ok, so I think I have it all figured out now, now that my new bathroom is in full use. When I take a bath, I usually fill the tub before I get in anyway..so I fill it from the tub spout, then divert water towards JUST the handheld. I take the handheld, and lay it in the corner edge, shelf of my bathtub. Once the bath is full, I divert water to just the handheld. I can control the on/off from where I turn the water on and off, right above the tub spout, which is easily reachable from the bath, without having to reach up to divert water from the showerhead. Problem solved.

I hate the feel of hair on my body -- gives me duck bumps! -- so I wash my hair in my extra large MBR sink. I *could* easily wash it using the hand-held Grohe that can be positioned 'wherever' on its vertical pole. There's *plenty* of water pressure through this. The house is 14 now; no slipping, sliding, or other problems with the hand-held. (We had an old Speakman head in our condo until recent remodeling. Minimal difference.) OT: One of my favorite things in this house is the recirculator on the hot water line. This provides hot water in seconds at every hot water tap in the house. Now that I think of it, even with that fast delivery, I push the hand-held shower spray away from me for those few seconds and flip it back when the water is hot. We should start a thread on how long you spend IN the shower, after all the debate about the water delivery system!

Hi dmosunich, I personally use this Waterpik hand-held shower head when the old shower head stopped functioning. It works for my needs. Not fancy by any means but definitely am happy with the multi-spray options that the old fixed shower head could not provide. The criteria for me was that the shower head had to be bigger and wider, and have the ability to detach and have a long enough hose to move freely. This Waterpik fit all of that plus it had multiple spray patterns which was definitely a plus. Can't speak for its durability as it is made of plastic with an exterior metal-like shell (most likely a type of acrylic that looks like metal) but I've had it for about 2 months now and so far so good.
