We stopped by the parks Visitors Center to see the display, but they had a yoga class in the display room. Comments (29)A vole looks more like a mouse. They are a true pest of gardeners, farmers, and orchardists. In the winter, voles will chew the bark from woody trees and shrubs, causing some real damage. This guy is a little shrew, a ravenous carnivore and insectivore. As tiny as they are, shrews have a reputation for being very feisty and fearless. They have sharp teeth and their bites are mildly venomous. We don't see shrews very often, but they are very common.
