What astonishes me about these camouflage pictures is how do the critters know that they are camouflaged - such as in this one. There aren't any mirrors in nature so how do the critters know what they look like and what then will camouflage them from prey.

blfenton, I've always wondered that too. Heck I even wonder how animals know how to communicate with each other through their eyes when they've never seen themselves to even know that they have eyes.

I see his nose and mouth, but not the rest of him, just a suspicious blur.

Hmmm, I see the back and back of the neck--no view of a nose or mouth.

man, now you guys have me questioning what I see. I see the bird from the back with his wings spread out over the rock. Perfect camouflage.

Wow! That bird is the same color as the rocks including spackling.

Is there only one critter? I see the one, but every time I look I think I'm seeing a second of a different type too....It's the one my eyes went to first, and it has a nose ;0).

I don't see it's face it seems like it's looking towards the rocks, back of head, neck and back showing. For a while I thought the black Rock to the right was a bear cub head.

I thought, that is one oddly shaped rock, surely that has to be it, and still couldn't tell until I blew it up. I've got to get new glasses. Thanks for posting jasdip! I love that you started these threads; they're fun!
