I saw a $1,300.00 pillow yesterday!

In Canadian dollars. But it was on sale for $794.00. It was at a Zellers store (which is where the Hudson Bay department store sells products that have sat for awhile). It caught my attention and I had to pet it and then checked out the price. Wow. I wouldn't even pay $40.00 for a nice decorative pillow. I did guess right when I thought it was coyote fur upon touching it. I'm not into fur though. Here is a picture of it.

Did you see the coyote fur throw for $3,600? It says it comes from ethically sourced Canadian coyote fur. What the heck does that mean? Yuck! Kind of creeps me out.

There are fabrics that cost that much and more per yard. I can't imagine anyone paying it even if they had money to burn. It will also cost a fortune to have anyone willing to risk working with it.

Thanks you guys...I have literally been killing myself (yep, you're right, deee) looking for fabric - have scrolled through hundreds of pages/stores on Etsy, tons of online fabric places. Found great designers of fun fabrics (faves are Heather Bailey, Amy Butler.) Everyone thank you for your links/suggestions - I've showed them all to DH (he has waaaaay too much input in this LOL) and we both agree nothing is quite right for imparting the feeling of the room with those top pillows... IMO the main elements I'm looking for are a primarily white/off white background, with some pattern that has aqua/powder blue and coral/orange. I cannot find it. It's driving me nuts. I ordered a yard of this fabric - it's red, not orange but I hope they sort of look like they don't match but look good together LOL. Only $9, so I'm not out much if it doesn't work. I'll use it in the kids room in the basement if all else fails.

Lesallimc, I am so happy for you that you are happy with the final look and the furniture headache fiasco with Stanley Furniture and with D&D Delivery is behind you now. It is a good thing you contacted the BBB or I have a feeling this would have been not resolved and caused you more stress for more months to come. Thanks for sharing. We would love pics if you have time. I am going to try to find time to post the pics I took of my Durham Furniture when it first arrived despite my bed not being made up with the fancy pillows. Since the car accident, I have had so many doctor appointments since I am still in pain that everything else other than trying to get some work done seems so stressful. It used to be easy to post pics when Yahoo Photos was in business. Now I have to learn what to do all over again. I think I will try that new place I posted the Stanley Furniture pictures.

UPDATE I just received this Fornasetti pillow from Etsy -- it's an outdoor pillow and I intended for use on our deck. However, I kind of like it in my office. What do you think? Perhaps it can live here during the off season.

It's not that I'm good, it's just that I'm from Jerusalem))(amongst other places I'm from) Iznik is one of my favorite patterns ever, so at some point, I learned the name already. It is indeed Turkish, and I on't have it, but I dream of having it. I even found sconces with Iznik pattern on them on Etsy, I just don't need them but got very excited that somebody actually makes them(also in Turkey, I think) I'm into patterns-ceramics, fabrics, you name it. I have too many, and am in love with many more. We also have a small plate from Armenian quarter-exactly same flower design. My DH surprizingly loves ceramics and dishes, so it's something we share and love hunting together. Our tradition is to always bring something from Jerusalem, and something in 99, 9% is ceramics. I also have a corner dedicated to all the art I bought in Israel during the years. I missed on "my" perfect Jerusalem piece many years ago, I though it was too expensive-and I'm looking in vain since then. Everything I love to the point of no return, is much more expensive than that painting was.. I love your collections, and wouldn't hesitate to borrow from them whatever you might like to borrow. Whether color, or pattern, or idea, or just a hint on something that is hard to describe but is there-and only you might know what it is.

Hmmmm... I'm having a conundrum. I don't understand the reasoning of why that store would think it was a good idea to sell that pillow.

And it was weird it was in a discount store....for everyone to touch, drop on the floor, etc. It is still on the shelf just shy of $800.00.

It isn't a real Zellers. It is a catch all for Hudson's Bay and maybe Home Outfitters. The outside sign says Zellers.

Last year I saw an orange couch at The Bay for $2000.00 and loved it. Three months ago it was at the Zellers store marked down to $420.00. I kick myself for not buying it then. I will go regularly now to see if I come across another. I won't but will still look as everything they have is crazy reduced - even the $1300 pillow. I think there are two Zellers left in Canada.

LOL, my husband just looked up a $10,000.00 coyote onesie. Ethically sourced - received from a cull?

Well I wouldn't be too quick to say poor coyote. They are nuisances here in Newfoundland and there is a bounty out on them. They are not natural to this area and they need to be killed in order for our own wildlife to survive.

They're a nuisance here too, Casey, and I don't think this is their natural habitat either. When we moved here 30+ years ago they were a rarity. But no longer. I worry about their effect on the pet population. However, I still don't like the idea of an animal being skinned so some person can lounge on their fur.

We need our local coyotes and bobcats to keep the rats, rabbits and ground squirrels in check. They have not been doing a very good job this summer.

They reopened one here in Ottawa in 2014 as a store liquidator to HBC and HomeOutfitters. Seriously, there are some great deals and they should open more across Canada for all the vacant Target stores there are. If only a few even.

OJ, I stole my time with the pillow while at the store. I was in awe of it but weirdly, not interested in it.

That price is right up there with things made with mosquito hides. (Do you know how many mosquitoes it takes to make anything.) Just Kidding... .

It's not difficult to make a coyote pillow. find a pillow, and find a coyote pelt, and make a coyote fur pillow cover. I saw coyote pelt for sale around $45-75 each.
