Paint help please- SW Incredible White cabinets, Agreeable Gray walls+

What color island? I have young kids and don't want Incredible White on the island.

I'm thinking I should stay in same color strip and maybe do Mega Greige? 4th from left.

(in order from right to left, SW incredible white, agreeable gray, anew gray (inner entry, family room, and stairwell.) I'm not fond of the 3 on the left.

Island is White Macaubas.

Here are kitchen plans (this is first draft. We've made some revisions but you get the idea.)

Here are the hue/value/chroma color notations for many of the colors on the SW strip. Just because colors are on the same strip is no guarantee that they will indeed harmonize and/or in the same hue family.

Incredible White - 1.59Y hue/ 9 value / 1 chroma

Agreeable Gray - 2.34Y hue / 8 value / 1 chroma

Anew Gray - 1.52Y hue / 7 value / 1 chroma

Mega Greige - 9.96YR hue / 7 value / 1 chroma

Anonymous - 2.89Y hue / 5 value / 1 chroma

Mega Greige belongs to the Yellow-Red hue family (orange)

Given the above information, I would agree with nosoccermom that SW Anonymous might be the better choice to coordinate with Incredible White, Anew and Agreeable Gray. Because Mega Greige's notation indicates it could have orange overtones. I'll attach a color wheel so you can plot the colors according to hue family if you want to.

P.S. Many people are unable to perceive the difference between pink overtones and orange overtones and will confuse pinkish and peachiness. It's important to know if the color characteristic is indeed pink (red hue family) or peach (orange hue family) because the light never gets confused - the light is boss. So you have to KNOW what hue family a color belongs to. And you KNOW what hue family a color belongs to by measuring it to capture its spectral data (its fingerprint or DNA) and converting that spectral data into a color notation - a hue/value/chroma notation.

Yes- they painted a piece of drywall. Ignore the last two blue colors. The 5 on the right are all Sherwin Williams, from the same strip. Sherwin William Paint strip

Far right is incredible white white is our ceilings, trim, doors, and perimeter kitchen cabinets.

2nd from right is Agreeable Gray- kitchen and dining room wall color.

3rd from right is Anew Gray- entry, family room, and stairwell.

4th from right is Mega Greige- possibly island?????

I have anew gray currently in my bedroom on the walls and alabaster on the trim. I think it would be beautiful to have the trim and perhaps the door also sw anew gray and the walls alabaster. Another look depending on the height of your ceilings, you could paint the ceiling anew gray with alabaster walls.

@Sue I know this is a year old but hoping you can confirm for me the colors of your kitchen. Agreeable Gray walls and Snowbound Cabinets? My floors are nearly identical to you but we still have brown/beige/charcoaly granite counters that we can't replace yet but I am just over the dark wood cabinetry and need a color to go with my agreeable gray walls.

I think for the island you would be best to do mega greige. You will want some contrast. Out of your options that you like, that would be the largest contrast but will still go with the incredible white.

Thank you aktillery9. That is what I'm leaning toward. I feel confident knowing it will "go" with the other colors.

lol, I started this reno saying I did NOT want gray cabinets. (love the look, just too trendy IMO.) And here I am, with gray cabinets!

Lauren, monitors vary, of course, but in that strip at the top, Mega Greige seems to have a pink undertone against the other colors around it. Before I'd commit to it, I would paint a large posterboard with it and hold it up next to your perimeter cabinet color to be sure. In your kitchen rendering, it will visually be "next" to the perimeters in the backdrop.

I love, love Agreeable Grey, but I'm wondering whether the darker colors on the strip veer too much towards brown. Could you go with a more contrasting color for the island? Also, have you looked at the color sin all kinds of light?

Below, Agreeable Grey walls and SW Anonymous island. [How does Mega Greige compare to Anonymous in your room? It should be less brown]

Lori, this is very interesting. I am a complete novice, but I would love to be able to read a color like that. Do you have a recommended site or place to read up on this. I would not even know how to begin to plot a color on the wheel you provided.

I agree the blue greys on the strip are not quite right, but have you considered a blue grey or a color for the island instead of a neutral? Your counters are gorgeous, and it looks like the wall color picks up the color, so you could do a soft color there and it would really be beautiful.

Anonymous looks better with agreeable, but it does have a slightly olive undertone to me. I think I'd personally prefer a muted color like a grey-green vs. olive. Although, my mom just did her kitchen in a new SW color that is close to agreeable (and is not in my SW color swatch book), and her cabinets are white on top and grey on the bottom. The grey did have a slightly olive cast when we were taking the sample door everywhere to match, but it doesn't look as olive installed. It's definitely not as dark as anonymous, and there's still quite a bit of contrast. I think it's probably in between intellectual and amazing.

Personally I like Anew best. Mostly because I'm assuming the rest of the cabinets will be white, so right now your sample board is showing against the wall color when in reality the island is going to be against white, so it's going to look really dark if you go with anonymous.

You know, with the shadows it looks a little blue grey, I like it. What color are your uppers?

Is Incredible White a glaring white? I'm thinking of using agreeable gray on my walls but still trying to choose what color cabinets. This is such a stressful process!!
