plz...plz...help find wide plank engineered flooring
Comments (22)Thanks Katz! Wow... sounds like you are in a houseful of chaos. Congratulations! It must be a wonderful feeling being able to "move in." I can't wait! I sent you an email to whatever email address is linked here at gardenweb. One of the questions I had was in regards to the Provenza Old World Collection. That is the flooring we are thinking about. We noticed that the tung oil finish is much rougher than the urethane finishes. Have you noticed that it is more difficult to clean? We are also going to have fur babies on this floor (one of the nice things about that tung oil finish, - quick removal of scratches!), and was wondering about the fur clean up issues. I have heard that those with urethane finishes initially can't believe how much fur "floats" around, especially if they had carpet before. Now I am curious about this rougher finish. Will the fur cling to it? Is it tough to clean? I am thrilled to hear about your experience with this floor and wish you well as your finish your home. Thanks again! :)...See MoreNeed suggestions picking engineered wide plank floors.
Comments (9)Carlisle Wide Plank Floors makes engineered wood floors that start at $11.99/SF, for All 6" Wide from the Studio Collection. This floor is 5/8" thick. We also offer 3/4" thick engineered floors that start at $13.99/SF for All 8" wide from the Traditional Collection. The thickness of your floor also determines the thickness of your wear layer. Most engineered floors have a wear layer that is as thick as a few sheets of paper so you can never refinish it and replacement costs are much higher. The thickness of the wear layer on a Carlisle floor allows you to sand it multiple times (if needed). You also want to pay attention to length, with the Traditional Collection you pay a little more but you get 2-12' long boards, which is a stellar look (at least we think so). You might find this shopping guide helpful. Good luck with your project and let us know if we can help or provide any further insight....See MoreBest brands for Engineered hardwood (wide plank) flooring
Comments (1)The reviews you're probably looking at are the low priced levels when 'locking correctly' is mentioned. If you offer a budget level you'll get far more opinions. Otherwise it's a wild card game....See MoreI Hate My New Floor!
Comments (48)NEG this looks just like a super stubborn mark I had on my lvp in our basement last week. My husband had moved a small gaming console that had rubber feet. No household cleaners would touch it. I had to get a toothbrush, dawn dish soap and some warm water. Plus a toothpick. Our lvp is grooved like yours. I just can’t get on board with the “mold” theory. That seems like crazy talk. If I spilled water anywhere in my house, inside outside, threw it on the wall, it wouldn’t just mold on contact. Now if taped it over with Saran Wrap, sure. But in the middle of the kitchen in winter with a nicely moisture-controlled house? Nope. I really think it some sort of residue from contact from something: rubber boot, dragging something, etc...See Moredonnatrus
