June 24, 2015 same problem here, we live about 40 minutes West of Milwaukee WI., the plants produced tons of blossoms, set fruit, today looked at them and again all dried up and shriveled. Plants are in good condition, we water, last year I put something on the garden center recommended, I thinned and pruned this Spring. And again, NO FRUIT. This bed is about 7 to 8 years old and I am so disheartened again this year after all my work last year. I even spent $1,000 to take down two tall trees to give lots more sunshine. We grow pumpkins and winter squash in garden adjunct, and they do well. Would appreciate any ideas. We will most likely do in the bed this fall and get rid of them all together. For all the hard work and money and time spent, I can buy a lot of raspberries. Thanks Bonnee

I do have a white garden a section of the whole garden, if you don't count the coral Lycoris radiata in August nor the pink Crinum that I cannot kill nor the Spring and Fall crocus. It is unlike Vita's in that hers included many grey leaved plants to extend the effect. My leaves are an emphatically green background for the flowers, Taxus media, Vinca minor (white flowered), Nandina (white berried), Daphne odora marginata, Skimmia japonica (white berried), and the various leaves of flowering plants, roses, ('Katharina Ziemet', 'Blanc Double de Coubert', 'Sombreuil', 'Ilse Krohn Superior', 'White Pet', 'Mlle de Sombreuil', and 'White Maman Cochet' - 'Bolero' died but will be replaced in multiples), Helleborus niger, H.xhybridus and bulbs, Tulipa 'Purissima', Narcissus 'Thalia' and Colchicum autumnalis alba. The Gardenias, Citrus trees and Tabernaemontana grandiflora (an unfussy gardenia relative) reside in this patio garden in the summer so I guess that's more white. Cath

According to Boughen website, ....Good heavy bearer of medium sized sweet red fruit. Well...still don't know what happened, these are the largest of all... after a couple of years of no fruits after freezing down I have some canes now with good size berries, 4 large berries can fill your hand and packed with awesome flavours ..kind of citrus. I've turned around from a miserable dude to a happy camper lol. Now I need to separate/isolate these from others growing between, want to establish away alone somewhere so no others will contaminate.

In zone 7B, it is unlikely that a generously sized container - like one suited to growing a dwarf fruit tree - would freeze in winter. And if you use a high quality potting soil, drainage shouldn't be an issue so they should be able to remain outdoors, exposed to the elements, without worry. I grow a lot of trees in containers, some much more sensitive to cold temps than most fruits, without worry. The only ones I've lost (and it hasn't been many) have been through my own negligence/lack of care, not winter issues. There are concerns with growing trees in containers but that is more to do with the correct type of potting medium, fertilizing and repotting/root pruning than cold issues with such a mild zone. The Container Gardening forum has a great thread on growing trees in containers - you might want to seek that out for additional info.
