Anyone have a small flat screen TV?
Comments (26)Returned a Vizio to Costco and bought a Samsung 22" for our breakfast room. Awful sound on the Vizio; better everything on the Samsung. Have a Toshiba 19" w/built-in DVD for the BR at the Maui condo. OK sound. Cynic is right. You need to realize that the pictures on thin-screens have more width than height -- not as 'full' a picture as the tube sets, but the pictures are extremely *sharp*. Ours are LCD's -- not LED's or Plasma's....See MoreFinally broke down and purchased the flat screen tv.
Comments (6)Buying tv's is almost as bad as buying a mattress. We made the rounds to the big stores and some of the smaller ones for opinions. The quality of this Panasonic is outstanding. We weren't sure about the 3D thing, we have no kids and just weren't convinced but ended up going that way figuring everything will end up that way sooner or later. We've also decided to start doing some gaming. In my almost 50 years I have never played the games. I take that back, many years ago I did the pacman game. It's the 3D movie of Avatar that we are thinking about selling on Ebay. Panasonic rolled it out with this tv as part of a bundle around the holidays. If you don't ask for it now, you won't get it. I am so glad my husband spoke up, with it came the movie and $300 worth of the 3D glasses. We priced those at $150 each. They also through in the Blue ray player....See MoreLow cost wall storage ideas for around flat screen TV
Comments (56)Oh what a cutie! I agree that you have a good reason to not have a lot of time. I've been reminding of that time in my life the last two years that I've been babysitting our grandson. Who cares about decorating when you have a precious little one to love. And I can understand more about why hubby doesn't like changing things or doing more than "has" to be done. He's more worried about being a good daddy and supporting his family than having a "pretty" updated home. Our home was rather sparse with mostly hand me down or used furniture when our first born was a baby. Heck it wasn't much difference by the time our second baby was born. Not saying it wasn't warm and welcoming. It was, but not everything was perfect. I've learned with age, that it's not so important. Perfection, that is. I went through a period where things had to be just so. Maybe it's more living in a unfinished home with a hubby that works a full time job year round and umpires most of the rest evenings and weekends to keep in shape and it pays nice too. We'll be in good shape for retirement and that's a good thing. I'm glad you like the corner door shelf. It's really easy to do. The hardest part was cutting the door in half. It's heavy so it took three of us to do. But if you used two doors you wouldn't have to worry about that. I bought the door through Craigslist since I was going to distress it, it didn't have to be perfect to start with. Habitat Restores are a good source for used doors too. As for the lighting in the entry I was wondering if you'd be able to use a decorative type track lighting in there. They have some really nice looking ones that the "track" curves and all you need is the one box for the fixture....See MoreWhat do you have your flat screen tv in/on
Comments (66)Parma, I obviously misread the specs on the bob mackie, sorry! You are right about the chinoiserie, I would prefer an accent piece and I really don't want the tv to be a visual focal point (though of course it will be because it IS the tv). You are also right that I am trying to take it on as a whole room and that is overwhelming to me. I am feeling pressure from lots of directions and it isn't helping me to think clearly. (ps.. are you going someplace fun?) Deborahnj- thanks for the view of my tv on a higher stand. That helps. My big concern though is that my room is narrow and the viewing distance is about 10'.. still, I think we'll be fine. bbstx - you crack me up because that's how I'd describe the doohickey too-- but I do know what you are talking about and I'll probably get the same thing (it's an infrared redirector or something?? maybe?). Thanks for the tip!...See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
