Linda, what part of DFW are you in? I'm near Waxahachie. If you are in this area, you could come get it now. We're about to move and all my plants are going to live in the country all by themselves. If they have a strong will to live, and it rains often enough, they'll survive. Otherwise, they won't.

Just found these forums again and just in time it would seem! I've moved, so that's shaken things up and put gardening on the back burner for the most part.

I just got a new temporary greenhouse though, put it up this last weekend, so I should have a lot more in the spring.

I am debating bringing what little I have because I have been battling white flies for the last few months... I just can't seem to get rid of the darn things! I have tried 2 different systemic insecticides, as well as some strips, but to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions, would be appreciated.

What I do have:

Various Tropical Hibiscus - mixed colors.

These are 1 year old plants that haven't bloomed yet. They are crossbreeds and I only know the colors of the parents. The pattern results could vary, but will know the general colors. They should be of blooming size/age this next spring/summer.

However, now that they are growing, all of the seedlings look the same.... and the leaves on these don't resemble either of the varieties pictured that I purchased... so who knows?? I am very curious to see what kind these actually are.

I can't this weekend Linda. We are moving. When I first posted to see if anyone wanted this, we had been negotiating with our buyers and they weren't going to budge, and our sale was off. Then, Monday, I guess that was just yesterday, they agreed to our last offer. So we are back on again. I can put a small one in a smaller pot and take it with me to our temporary place. I don't even know right now how I would get to the Ft. Worth Swap. Life has been pretty stressful the last week. But it should be better next week.

It's Folger's Black Silk, but any dark or semi-dark one will do.

I have quite a few spider worts that seem to be doing well, & I dug up a few more of the alleged gladiolus;

they have "brindled" rhizomes like Louisiana irises, but the foliage grows differently from the base, & the seeds are small black things in an elongated sheath, not the big brownish-white seeds in the big fat melon-looking pod that La irises have.

I'll bring plenty of both!

Shan, I dug up a perennial gourd for you.

It makes small (3" maybe) gourds.

The plant will climb fences or crawl over the ground.

The root is a carrot-shaped white-ish thing; there are 2, 1 small & 1 maybe 20" long.

don't know if that counts as a vegetable, so if you don't want it, it's okay.

I would like some Autumn Joy sedum if you have enough. I love the russet flowers!

If you'd like it, I can bring you a cutting or maybe a rooted piece of the lavender-flowering kind.

Phil, do you have an extra passiflora that's easy to grow?

I am beginning to get butterflies on the buddleia & mistflower, & I have plenty of fenceline for a passi!

I have some seeds for 3 different kinds of Passiflora, two that are more annual-like and one that is hardy for our area. But with mild winters and some protection all have come back for me multiple times. All of them are pretty easy to grow. I have 8 or 9 different varieties that I am growing now, should have more seeds and such this next spring/season.

I had a bunch of fruit just last week but it would seem that birds and others are eating them, because I only have 4-5 fruits left... going to pick them now and let them ripen inside to be safe.

I forgot to mention that I will also be bringing a coral tree. I actually have 2, but one is too large for me to bring to the swap. They require overwintering inside or in a greenhouse. One is just over 4ft and the other in a gallon pot, but both are 3 years old now. I just don't have room for them anymore and they need a good home.

sylvia- I potted up some purple mums for you over the weekend (I'll post photos later so you can let me know if you want more) and I do have some sedum I can bring for the perennial gourd (I think it's the crystal pink variety; they are blooming right now; such pretty little flowers!)

I did a quick Google search for them; are they the 'cucumber'/ivy type, buffalo gourd or a true gourd? I'll take them either way, lol, I'm just curious!

Could I also get some rain lily seeds?

Shan, I forgot to tell you to baby that currant for awhile. I know the top looks dead but the bottom had new growth starting after I dug and potted it. It's very hard to get good roots on them when digging.

Swap was lots of fun, as usual, & we even roped in a couple of passers-by to adopt some plants.

JoAn, thanks. I saw there was some new growth along the stem when I got home. They've gotten a good watering and I will give them extra tlc until they get established.

Thanks Sylvia for another successful swap. This one was really fun. I really enjoyed myself and hated to leave. I came home with way more than I got there with.
