What's for dinner Thursday nite?

Hubby grilled some bone-in pork chops and asparagus on the little electric grill out on the balcony. We also had some leftover mashed potatoes and some cauliflower. Fresh peaches for dessert.

We had leftovers tonight. DH had orecchiette with Italian sausage left over from the other night, and I had some big bang shrimp and an orzo salad. The shrimp was left over from lunch today after golf, and the salad I just made tonight for part of tomorrow night's dinner.

Omelette from brown eggs my daughter brings me, steamed broccoli and fresh tomato with Italian dressing, and homemade bread.

Rhizo, I'm working on writing up the recipe for the "Jamaican Jambalaya" but it is difficult since one of the steps was make a dish of roasted sweet potato, plantain and onion, eat half of it, refrigerate the rest overnight, and add that to the Jambalaya. For the most part though it involved cooking the ingredients in a large skillet, setting some aside, and cooking others, eventually adding more and more until they are all in the large skillet, then lower heat to a simmer until the rice is done. Cooking plantains however is easy. The hardest part is waiting until the plantains are ripe enough. They are usually greenish-yellow when you buy them, but i feel they are best when they are completely black on the outside, which can take a couple of weeks after you buy them. Once they are ripe, it couldn't be easier. Lightly score the peel lengthwise, remove peel and slice plantain into 1/4 thick slices. Add oil to a large skillet, heat over medium high heat until oil shimmers, add plantain discs, cook until browned, flip, and cook the other side until browned. Remove to plate with paper towel. Lightly salt and serve.

DH and I went to a financial planning meeting we were invited to by our banker. It was in a local restaurant. Appetizers: platter of chicken satay, boiled shrimp and tuna tartar with tomatoes on flatbread. Salad: I had the house salad, mixed greens, goat cheese, cranberries and a cooked pear.( DH had the caesar.) Entree: Filet Mignon Dessert was an assortment but i just took the vanilla ice cream. wow, chicken livers... haven't had them in a LONG time. Sauteed chicken livers used to be a comfort food for me! Most people I know now would rather starve than be forced to eat a chicken liver. I can't imagine a restaurant selling them. lol! Great. Now I'm craving either chicken liver, beef liver, or liverwurst. ;p Good thing I have a chocolate cake in the oven! :)

Sorry I didn't get back here last night to read all your good meals. Food + tummy = ick yesterday. Went to bed around 8 and slept until almost 7 this morning. I knew I was feeling better when I started to think about tonight's dinner and my weekly grocery list. I'm beginning to think it's something I'm allergic to and I suspect it's fresh tomatoes. I sure hope not, since I love them! But I had this same thing a month or so ago. Wasn't food poisoning because Harry didn't have it.

We went out for sushi. We went to a new place and it was incredible. This sweet little old lady that works there kept bringing stuff out to us saying "its on the house." I definitely want to go back again

Little bittiest lobster tails (4 oz) I've ever seen. Threw them on the grill. Husband gave me his, "too much work". His fingers were as big as the tails. LOL

Some bowtie pasta, chicken, broccoli and mushrooms in Alfredo sauce.

Aren't they called langostino when they're that little?

I've only had langostino a couple of times and they were about 1/4 the size of these and weren't in the shell.

Made a new chili recipe for hubby, he said it was a keeper. I had a cube steak. I made a espresso angel food cake with mini cho. chips. Hubby likes his with van. ice cream.
