We're hope we're ready for Sandy; we've got food, water, our medicines, and flashlights, and don't have to go anywhere. We've been fortunate that we rarely lose power in storms and hope this one won't be the exception. I truly feel much sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of people who really may be "in harm's way". Stay safe, everyone....See MoreTiffy are you in the Hurricane's path
Comments (10)Wendy, Yep! You can feel the warmth coming up the coast no doubt. Last night we went to dinner in Halifax and when we came out of the restaurant at 10 PM we walked into a city full of 'summer'. There was a Hedley concert (free, celebrating democracy's b-day in Canada at 250 years) in the Grand Parade in front of city hall which had managed to gather over 10,000 young fans and you would not have thought it was the end of September weather wise. Elton John was in the city for a concert too so Halifax was in all it's glory people wise. :O) Kim, I just went to my satelite imaging and see it's right off the Cape Cod coast. Did you move yet?? Are you still in CC? You are undountedly getting some of this too so hold on there girl!! Out in the wind? A little story... At the age of 4, my DM 'lost' me and sent my 5 brothers out to find me and bring me home. We lived on the shores of St. Mary's Bay and in a tropical storm with high winds they found me sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the bay with my eyes closed just "feeling the wind in my face. It feels so good maman." But no, DH will probably come out and call me in when things get a bit too hairy today. :O) Called my family and they are all ready. There's a warning that roads along the shore line will be washed out in their area due to high tides in the area when the bulk of the storm goes through this evening. I know we have some winter sowers in Maine which will also be hit hard by this Hurricane. I believe Bonnie is one of them?? Stay safe all my neighbours! Toes and fingers are still crossed!...See MoreSome Pictures Before The Violet Storms Passing Thru
Comments (17)Thank you everyone for the well wishes. Yes, nothing really to complain about as no lasting damage in my garden. The tomatoes will taste wonderful and that is only the begining of tomato season. Lots more to come. The plants will be fine. I went and cut off any broken branches on them and they are already picking up. Jean and everyone. That was a very old historic structure in the park. There is already a newer bigger one that they use as the bandstand for the summer concerts but the old one is part of our history. Sad to see it crashed. I could always see the water from my front porch, better in winter with the leaves down than in the summer. But with the two trees dopwn that went down I am amazed at my new view. Clear down to the water straight thru the park with no obstructions. I just sat out on my porch and watched all the cleanup and goings on....See Morewooden storms and sash stays
Comments (2)My thinking has been that for the cost of replacement windows you could hire someone to do the change out for many, many years. Probably not that helpful but it's all I've got. A PO went and put aluminum triple tracks on my house in around the 1940s or so. (Who knew aluminum could rust but it sure seems to have.)...See MoreUser
