Think I made a mistake (Pic's) not too late to change...
Comments (14)Thanks everyone, the photo's DO help. The faucets are installed as I mentioned, so this is the placement they will have to remain (they never asked me - and I never realized that they would just put them here. I would have preferred it mounted on the deck, and would have indicated that if I knew they were about to install.. but it's too late. The only options I have is to go to the lower neck, which I am not really that found of, - or the waterfall faucet (great suggestion!!). I think though... after seeing sujafr pictures, I'll live with them a while and see how I feel. They do make the sick faucet and maybe once everything is in it's place.. it will come together.I will take a picture of the actual tub and faucet tomorrow and post it so that you can see the real thing....See MoreThink I may have made a mistake
Comments (41)Wondering how this is going. I'm having terrible trouble keeping my boundaries with my dad as he ages. On the one hand, I don't want to be totally mean and uncaring, on the other hand, he can be super nice and you would never guess the cruelty that lies beneath, he's a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde type of person. Dr. Jekyll can be around for days, weeks, even a month or more. Then, on a dime, Mr. Hyde shows up! He actually doesn't even remember sometimes I think when he is one person or the other. He has no memory of how horrible he has been when he's playing Dr. Jekyll, nor does he seem to remember anything good or nice when he is being Mr. Hyde. Then on the other hand, I need to keep those boundaries going because Mr. Hyde showing up is inevitable. That's the sad thing about someone with a pathological personality. They can never really change for good. They just aren't wired the same way as empathetic people. They can act empathetic and sympathetic, they can be charming. But it is for manipulation to get their needs met. They can't ever get used to considering other people's needs and feelings as equal to or above theirs. Most of the time they are barely aware of anything about anyone other than their self. So I would do the minimum and not sweat keeping those boundaries. As the old saying goes, "Ex is ex for a reason" and same goes for boundaries with pathological people. Wish as hard as you will that things could be different, but they just can't. This is the cross people have to bear who have people like this in their family and life. The hardest thing is the guilt other people try to lay on you because the person can seem sympathetic and charming, so they think you are being the mean one. So many people hold out hope that people can change, and some people can change, absolutely and I am a firm believer on people's ability to change. But sometimes you have to realize that there are just certain people who cannot. Being able to distinguish between those who can and those who can't is pretty important. Show compassion to those who can't, but keep iron clad boundaries between their dysfunctional lives and your own. Think of how many people who have had to watch as a loved ones sinks into addiction, madness and death and have tried and tried to intervene to no avail. So some people really can suffer and suffer from their own self-imposed hells and yet never let go of the dysfunctional behavior....See MoreIs This the Norm Now? - Failure to Report from Diagnostic Lab
Comments (48)"when the order has come from a specialist, that’s a different story." That has not been my experience at all. A report to an electronic system is a report, without regard to who ordered it or why. Just as the most recent example, I had two special tests ordered "by a specialist" last month and the results went into my regular accessible record, along with the doc's comments, when the analyses were concluded. Last week, I had occasion to see a doc in an area away from where I live. I went to a large group practice. They were able to access my home area medical records, including lab histories, prescriptions, and doc visits, and use these to address my specific complaint. I thought that was really cool and most useful, though I'd printed some of it out and had it with me. The lab reports at this new practice I'd never been to before were similarly available to me when completed through their patient portal. You'd think from these comments I'm either a hypochondriac or in poor health. Neither is the case, I've just had a couple of one-off situations recently. All is well, back to running marathons and climbing Mt Everest (just kidding)....See MorePlease help, I think I made the wrong tile choices :(
Comments (43)or if I'm really committing some color mismatching ... No, the problem isn't tile color; it's shape and size. First, what's working: the floor, the shower and the vanity are all nice. What I'd change: - The tile backsplash above the vanity is bad ... the tiles are much too large. Fortunately, pulling them at this stage won't be too difficult. You need something much smaller here. How would the tile from the shower floor look here? If it matches, it would give continuity. - The mirror frames are also bad. The brown tone clashes badly with the darker wood stain of the vanity. The thing is, they don't match, but they're kinda close enough that you looked like you were trying to match them. - You don't have lighting in yet, but I'm concerned ... are you putting two sconces on the side of each mirror? They look low. Mirrors (Priority 2): I don’t think I can change the taupe trim ... Is it terrible or is it just not really to taste? Yes, they are really terrible. The frames are heavy (especially at the top), so they claim a lot of attention, and the brown-paint-over-wood-stained-vanity just doesn't work. I dislike the two small mirrors; I'd go with a large, more functional mirror over the whole vanity /framed with a more moderate wood-stained trim to match the vanity. But is there anything you think I can do to keep this mirror as is? No. This btw is what the sconces would look like. I am trying to bring some modern but remain mostly traditional in line with the house. It's not a problem of modern vs. traditional; it's a matter of size and proportion. If we end up redoing the shower wall, then I think we will go with a taller niche. Could the shower be better? Yes, a little better -- but it's not worth the cost. Colors: I just want to confirm to you that the tile on the floor, the tile on the shower the tile of the wall itself goes okay together or at least not terrible? Yes, these are fine; they're very simple and will work with whatever colors /accessories you want to bring in. Beth is saying what I am saying A mirror is not a "window" . there is no reason for the heaviness over the vanity. Yes, it's okay to change the mirrors without changing the windows....See Morehomepro01
