idea - those are great curtains. I am unsure whether the colored one, like yellow, would be better, or just to go with white or beige. That room is hard as we just have the sofa and piano there still, so it seems so empty. The sheers are pretty, but I don't know about putting blinds on that big 10' window. I'll see what my husband thinks. The one curtain that was a combination of sheer and blackout was nice. I am not sure about moving the pole though. My husband could do it, but we would have to find paint to match and all of that. The only time we would close the drapes would be in the night, otherwise, I think opening up the room feels so much better. It is a narrow type of room.

I do have a question. If the window is 10 feet wide. How do you know how many panels to buy?

rbu you need twice as much width as your window to make it look full. So, 120" for 10foot window (that is a huge window)... Some panels come 60" width, so in that case you would need at least 2 panels (or a set).

Panels are either sold separately or in a set. (I'm sure you figured that out)... but, they come in all different widths: 45", 54", 63", 72", 84" are the usual ones. Then, you know different lengths. So, for your 120" window, it would be nice and workable to have (2) 63". On Wayfair they tell you to even put more panels, more than double the width of window but I don't agree. Only maybe for a certain really full look?

Now, these are nice, but all of these faux silk are dry clean only. Don't know if you want to do that.

If you move the curtain rod, you could also move it UP, rather than DOWN, maybe 3" I think it looks like you have there.... Then it would measure maybe 91" from floor. (Higher curtains do look more elegant), unfortunately I don't see many curtains 91"... So, you could buy (talking about large window only here) the 94" or 95" Lengths, and let it pool at bottom 3-4"...

Something to toss around.

You could even just leave it where it is and let it pool at the bottom for the large window, (you can even pin it and no one would know....:) )

Rbu, if you are feeling iffish about going yellow in curtains then go with that feeling. Maybe you really want blue in there. You were excited when we put the carpet together with the blue curtains and the cabinet and a couple pillows. Do you want to go with blue idea? Pale gray also looks stunning with the carpet. Go with what you feel you like.

The carpet for living room, actually is a gray rather than a taupe, I think... Easiest and less risky to choose a pale to medium blue, gray or white for curtains. It's really up to the taste and other surrounding things. A silver mirror with gray or blue curtains. If white curtains you could do a strong room of white and blues.

Thank you - for helping to decorate, idea! It really helps me! I do not think you need a lamp at the entry console. There is an overhead light. The one thing is that the overhead light is a gold (not very pretty) chandelier (plain) so I am not sure if it will clash with the silver in the living room. On the other hand, maybe I should just replace the light fixture sometime and not worry about it. I like both the blue and silver mirrors, very pretty!

I can see if the horse picture will fit over the piano. I still mean to show you that other painting I have - I will try to get a picture of it.

So, I have been entertaining my in-laws (and kids) over this Thanksgiving weekend so I haven't had time to shop much. everdebz - The Chelsea panel is nice, but I need a longer length. The lace and macrame trim is really pretty. I believe 90" in length is what I need. I was hoping to just hem the curtain instead of moving the curtain rod. (I don't think my husband wants to fill in holes, paint). It is an odd length, though.

I think the addition of a grey-stoned wooden table with some off-grey chairs would be a nice addition. My parents recently did the same in their home and it looks great!

If you really love - what if you bought panels [they're not extremely expensive] and made valances custom width, etc... and covering the top of inner rod. Low budget and something I would try -- ! -- is hang 2 runners with clips maybe with lighter metal look?

I just got so busy entertaining my in-laws, and then the kids with all of their holiday projects, I haven't had a lot of time to work on the house and check Houzz. The good news is that the carpet is down in the living room and I like it a lot! Perfect size and color. The Carlisle chair is coming Friday. We have put up all of our holiday decorations - the tree is in the living room. Back to the drapes, I think I will order the pretty blue one. I was thinking of getting one for the smaller window, but I doubt I will be able to match the rod. I wonder what I should do. I will see, but I have no idea what company the rod is that is over the big window.

My in-laws thought we needed another chair (like the leather one) in the family room, but I think I will wait to see what the console looks like and to see if we have room. It should be arriving any day. We definitely do not have that much seating when we have company over. The kids lay on the floor, though. The dining table is interesting too with lots of people.

Ordered the pretty lamp, but still looking for an entry table. Still haven't ordered the cabinet and Hooker credenza yet. Budgeting for the holidays. I need to get the end tables to tie everything together, and of course, the cute paintings. :) Love the ones you have shown me. Will need to complete the living room too. There is so much...
