Please help me decorate my dining room
Comments (17)Your new kitchen and DR spaces are so pretty! I can't offer anything as to the table, but just a word of caution about a bench. They seem to be trendy now and my son and DIL just bought a table and bench/chair set from CB for their new house. They had both sides of the family over for a housewarming and her brother (early 30's) said to me...under his breath....that the bench was very uncomfortable for a longer, family dinner. Think about it....how long would you be comfortable sitting at a picnic table on a hard bench with no back support? I say get nice chairs with upholstered seats....if you have kids you can always cover them with Sunbrella fabric for easier cleaning....See MoreHelp me Furnish & Decorate My Living Area &Dining Room of my new home
Comments (26)I love the clean, uncluttered look of your home and you've made some great furniture choices. My first thought, though, is that I would try to rework the sofa/sectional placement. It really is unwelcoming looking to me to have the back where it is facing a wall, when it could be oriented to look into the room and out the windows. It seems like if it were placed in the corner under the stairs that it would feel open and invite you to come in and sit. I'd hate to be cooking in the kitchen and have the family or guests with their backs to me. If you are having a TV in another room close by, do you need one in that room, too? If, so placing a 70" unit will probably only work as you have it. But, to me, it's not going to look like a living room but more like a movie theater, which is fine if that's what you're going for. It seems like it won't be a cozy conversation area, though. I might actually flip the rooms and put the dining room where you have the sofa now. I was looking at lights used with dining rooms and ghost chairs and saw this, maybe would work in the living room? Kind of fun. don't know if it would look as good without the colored walls though. And I thought something like these were interesting to consider for over your table:...See MoreHelp! How to decorate small combo dining room/living room...
Comments (2)Do you own or is this a rental? The pix look a little stretched like realty ones. Since there is a rad between the doors, forget putting TV there. I'd keep the dining close to the kitchen and put the sitting/TV area to focus on the long wall. Start with the fun project of finding a knockout chandelier to hang from that pretty ceiling. Is there a fridge under the microwave? I see only one wall outlet behind the door and one above the counter, so you'll have to use extension cords and cord covers along the baseboards to have enough lighting here. Consider floating your sofa facing the long wall and TV. Then use a drop leaf table behind it for dining. You'll be able to open it all the way for entertaining. Anchor your seating area with a rug 2-3 feet wider than your sofa....See MoreHelp me decorate my living room please!
Comments (12)You are in luck, because the one word that defines both boho and farmhouse is relaxed! These two styles will allow you to embrace the unique qualities of your home. Let inspiration come in the way of a piece of fabric, or a favorite accessory. Have a plan before you buy anything, to give your home unity and cohesiveness. Measure twice, buy once! You have a blank slate with your neutral base pieces, so you can pretty much go with any color or colors. Get art from local artists, or art.com. As you can see from the two links below, you have a lot of options with the boho and farmhouse styles. https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/farmhouse-living-room/nqrwns https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/boho-living-room/nqrwns...See MoreCatherine Lowes
