Spring Swap...aka 'Spring Fling!'
Comments (31)Sorry, my internet(dail-up) was down because of the storm. Can't complain for less thatn $10 a month... Requests to hear more from me attended to... though I'm not sure what kind of info you're looking for. Open to questions. Hubs is attending OUHSC grad school in Epidemiology (got his bachelor's in Math). Been married for going on five years. My favorite color is blue, I used to like animals until I had a child. I got a BS in History with a minor in AmeriGov. My favorite books right now are the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, though I think my all time favorite might be Les Miserables. I'm extremely analytical and inquisitive--my recent conquests for knowledge have included sewing, quilting, using a digital camera correctly, veterinary work for an accident prone cat, instructing classical guitar (you get a different perspective as a teacher, naturally) and (of course) gardening. Gardening is less of fleeting interest than the rest though, because I see it as more of a responsibility to learn than anything else--you know, being able to feed yourself and beautify your land. Not sure how much to give away... I think my blood type is O...? We recently bought a house in the SW area of OKC and had one good plant this last year--zucchini, which for all I know is the easiest thing to grow on earth so it had nothing to do with me :) I recently bought some seeds to start a chocolate vine on my back fence, and as soon as I figure out what I want I'll get started on landscaping. I like lambs' ear, but only because it feels nice. It's really not very pretty. I like roses, but I don't want thorns around curious children, and I'm poor :) I think it's pretty safe to say that I have no natural ability in the area of growing plants, so I need more time with those that do, or have at least acquired that ability. Hope that's enough, and again, ask all the questions you want, but don't get mad if I don't respond immediately, I have limited internet access as my husband uses the computer for school/research, and our service stinks. Thanks for your time....See MoreIntoductions all the way 'round!
Comments (150)Sharon (canarybird), my inlaws met on Majorca. Ironically neither of them is from Spain. LOL She was a Dutch stewardess with KLM and he was an American physician traveling around Europe. So romantic (gagging sounds). LOL I have been here on and off for 8 1/2 years now! I think I was first directed here from a search about philodendrons, hence my user name. Then I slowly meandered to the cooking forum. I check in from time to time - something got me thinking about the group yesterday and I decided to log on. :) I have three wonderful children, ages nearly 6 (in two days!), 3, and 8 months. I am married to a teacher of economics and history and we live on the campus of a boys' boarding school in New York state, not that far from Stacy3. In my spare time LOL I love to sew, read, cook, and blog. I have a private blog for friends and family to keep up with the kids, and it's been a blast to keep it up in various forms since David was a mere tot. I have another blog that talks mostly about motherhood, childbirth and pregnancy called The Deranged Housewife, of which our very own Netla was gracious enough to "follow," putting me on the map that is Google Search. (Thank you, Netla!) (A native of Iceland, she has a wonderful blog with photos too, that I often look at ...just a quick plug there...LOL) I am a freelance writer/editor/sort of graphic designer and work from home when I can get assignments. Most of my work now is volunteering my graphic design "skills" (I use that term lightly sometimes LOL) for my son's school. I enjoy cooking not so much for the meal preparation but I love feeding people. I consider it such a wonderful blessing to have family or guests around my table to cook for. I overheard a woman at the store the other day talking about how she's going on a Mexican vacation over Christmas and is excited to not have to cook. I thought, you can keep your vacation because I'd rather cook for my friends and family! And now I must stop blathering on in order to prevent my infant son from eating the Persian rug...excuse me....See MoreTell about your Kordes Roses
Comments (43)sutekesh Not exactly a fashion thing as Belami is a beautiful Kordana but a practical business decision of the Kordana growers in N. America which can only offer so many varieties in a mixed box and the pastels are less popular in general. I would buy this rose over the stronger colors, but I must be a minority in N. America. Yes you are right we did patent it. On names I sometimes have to laugh at all of this because I see posts about names and how terrible the German names are on this site. When we give it a better commercial name for the North America market or in another country then there is criticism on that. I guess there is no winning on the subject! For all the advanced rose lovers use the denomination in the case of Elegant Fairy Tale it is KORterschi. It never changes the world over. It is the legal name and all breeder rights and patents are filed under this name. You will never be confused. Plus all Kordes varieties start with the letters KOR which makes it clear who the breeder is. Same for all other breeders the varieties always start with a standard breeder code....See MoreTowering Rose Magic aka Soeur Emmanuelle
Comments (45)There's still some wackiness, but mainly from phones. Pics take time, but I've determined that sometimes the file is too big so if I adjust for that it fast. It's not a problem too much, just not in the title section of a post. I don't have many issues honestly.... only typing from my phone, so I use voice recognition. I must have a strange accent or talk too fast because it records funny things! I hope you'll visit both sites.... I personally miss your infectious spirit and know many northerners have questions about keeping their pots over the winter and I'm always scrounging up your old posts. MUCH BETTER to have you sharing your hard-earned wisdom! : ))...See MoreSara-Ann Z6B OK
