I've Been Traumatized!!! Long
Comments (9)We haven't come that far since 1971, I was at Safeway last summer and the system crashed so no one was able to check out their food, the lines got really long. The store didn't want everyone to leave their shopping carts so they passed cookies out to everyone in line. The wait continued they passed out water to everyone in line, it became a real got milk? moment. Carts were left in mass. I've worked in stores too long and just couldn't do it by the time they got back on line I was first in line. Two years ago I bought a TV at W Mart, they had you pay for it at the electronic dept. I also bought a vcr and tapes, paied the whole thing on a credit card. As we were leaving the store two young male security guards tackled my dh and hit the cart so hard the TV fell off. I made an amazing recovery and caught it. The clerk at the electronic dept. didn't put a paied sticker on the TV. They were holding us inspite of the recept and the credit card slip. The woman we bought the stuff from just happened to walk by on her way to lunch, my dh told the guards and other people who were holding us, she was the person we bought the TV from. She said that we had paied for it and she must have forgotten to put the sticker on it. Afterward I wished I let the TV fall to the floor and my dh has a heart condition, I wish he complained about pain because the guards used force....See MoreI've been nurturing Dr. Huey!
Comments (12)A case of: "when he's good, he's oh so very good and when he's bad, he is horrid", I suppose. Where I live now I'm really appreciating its tolerance of alkaline soil. And it makes such a good rootstock here. The bark is easy to peel up to stick buds, it heals & supports them well, buds "push" vigorously on it, it roots easily... It's probably as hard for me to understand the loathing of Dr. Huey as it is for folks in other zones to imagine me actually paying for Dr. Huey rootstock. sticks. Love this little poem occasionally posted here--I'm so sorry I can't recall the author: Big Box Surprise I am a little coffin rose My roots are very short I sat for months upon the shelf I tried to be a sport The picture on my narrow bag Shows I am very yellow I like the sun; I like the rain I'm quite a handsome fellow She took me home and wet me down And trimmed my moldy roots I sulked for weeks without a bud And then I threw long shoots I looked around at all my kind So orange and gold and mellow I'd be the center of the show The perfect spot for yellow The sun burst forth and out I came With buds so round and dewy I'd played a trick on everyone Ha ha, I'm Dr Huey Mary...See MoreI've not been here in awhile - but all is well! :))
Comments (13)Mike, hey, Mike!!! Good to see you, friend. Your ears must be burning- Kristy and I were talking 'bout you yesterday, about how much we miss you. I knew you had a good reason for being gone but sorry to hear the circumstances! Glad the pinkie is going to be okey!! And yes, welcome to the joys of home-ownership- it all falls on our shoulders! LOL! ............... Wait! That's not funny! Well, what a difference a year makes. You have made it your own and it is just beautiful. I love what you've done! You have alot to be thankful for. So do your neighbors! :-) Your puppy sure has grown into a magnificent lady! Waiting for Xena and First Belle to bloom, seeing them has kept thoughts of you close to me! Look forward to seeing more of your gardens! Wow, I can see why Angel's Exotic is special to you. Salmon Perfektion does the same, for me! ~Brenda...See MoreI've been influenced by all of you :)
Comments (3)Yes, it was because of this place I have collected 140 different daylilies in two years. And, I plan to keep collecting. It's a drop in a bucket compared to the number others have on this forum, but not bad considering I just started to seriously collect them last year. And I love looking at the photos everyone shares here, it just makes my daylily want list that much longer. This forum is also where I learned how to make my own crosses, which is just as fun, if not more so, than collecting named cultivars. I made my first crosses last summer, winter sowed the seeds in February, and now most of the seedlings are at least ten inches tall, growing in their own pots and will be planted in the ground this fall. Still have to build a raised bed for them, but I'll get to it some time this summer. Karen...See Moreposierosie_zone7a
