Hi all!

Yes! I'm still alive! :)) Hoping I'm not forgotten!

It's been a busy - busy summer!

I'm hoping everyone is doing GREAT!! :)) Hoping the Brugs & other plants are making everyone's summer a happy one!

I've missed everyone! Hoping to be around more often as the summer progresses! And it looks like I have ALOT of catching up to do!

I think this will probably be a LONG post - so bear with me! lol!

A few months ago I smashed my right 'pinkie' at work and it was hanging by a thread! Luckily I had a good ortho surgeon! You can't even tell anything happened now! I'm thankful for that!

Central air went out - had to work ALOT of overtime to pay for a new central air & heating unit! But they're in and working! I guess that's a good thing!

'Tehya' has grown like a WEED! And yes - there are pics! :))

I've taken hundreds of pics throughout the summer & I'll try to upload them to photobucket & get them posted!

I've started container growing some of the Brugs. Still have about 80 planted in the ground! It's been terrible as far as the water bill goes!

Lucy - I see you're still doing the POTD! Yay! Good for you! Can't wait to check ALL of them out! lol! Hope your summer is going well for you! :))

Marian - See the beautiful 'rig' my neighbor parked at the back of my fence line!! (It's in a few of the following pics!) He's not changed a bit! I've had to look at it for almost the entire summer!

Karyn - I've got a couple of the 'white' passion flowers growing in a pot for you. When the weather gets a little cooler - they'll be on the way to you!

Theresa - Your little nephew is growing strong! There's a pic somewhere in this post of him! No buds yet - but hopefully SOON!!

Karen - Your 'Cup of Gold' is doing great - no blooms yet! Maybe this year! :)

Joyce - I got your emails. I'm sorry for the loss of your two babies! My heart goes out to you - as I've been there myself. Remember Arrant? Not a day goes by that I don't think of him! A tight hug to you!

Kristy - Your 'plumie' is still growing - but no blooms yet! It's hard to believe I've had it for darn near two years! There's a pic of it somewhere in this mess of pics!

Msbatt & Jill (jillybean1977) - I've got rooted cutings for the both of you! When the weather gets a little cooler - they'll be on the way. Will probably add a few unrooted cuttings as well! I've not forgotten either of you! :)

Various Morning Glories!

Well - that's it for tonight! :) I'll try to add more in the next couple of days!

'Xena' & 'Ecuador Pink' are about to open - finally! Many have buds & I'll get pics as they bloom! :)

One of the German brugs is almost there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The 'Double Dark Rosetta' has three buds that should be open by the weekend! Yippee! She's dropped nine buds for no apparent reason! Maybe she doesn't like America! :)

I lost four of the six German cuttings - but I'm happy to have two of them that made it through the winter! lol!

'Superspot' is the other one that made it! Slow grower though! We'll see what happens with him as the summer progresses!

Well its about darn time you showed up again!!! You have been gone too long and sorely missed! Please don't do that again!!! Enough already! LOL!!! Hmm where to start. Sorry about your finger and glad you had a good repair job. Some surgeons are amazing. Glad you got your A/C replaced. Has it been unusually hot there? Your Tehya has grown and she is beautiful! She looks like she is smiling for the camera. I still can't get over those HUGE ears! I bet she hears well!!! LOL!!! I hope she has brought you much love and joy!
Congrats on one year in your home! You sure have done a lot of planting. Everything looks great! Angels Exotic is gorgeous! She is not that tall and already blooming! Love it! The passion flower and MG's are stunning! I like those blue & white stripe ones. How is your Missouri Marble Datura doing?
I was just talking about you the other day wondering if you were going to come back to the list. So glad you did! The majority of the brug cuttings from you are doing well. No blooms yet but I hope to have some this year! I am glad you are well and looking forward to seeing more pics of your garden.

Peat makes an excellent preservative. The modern horticultural practice of using a sterile medium like peat is in order to create a hydroponic environment, that can force-feed plants into rapid production. I've found a few nurseries who grow in-pot organically, and they avoid peat. I don't see large chunks of pine bark in their soil medium, either. Some use rainwater to irrigate, most are wholesale and at least one is open to the public. Transplanting and establishment ease have been outstanding with these trees grown organically with a comost-based medium. Some use pots that are designed to eliminate circling roots. This is a far superior product, that establishes and plants easier, than any tree grown in peat, or in a plastic pot. It's really a leap were speaking of, for a root to make the transition from an extremely acidic, sterile medium to a nearly neutral, live mineal soil. It ain't natural, and creates unnecessary stress on the plant when it needs it least-- during root establishment. But we grow potted plants in peat, anyways. Modern horticularal practices do not serve the grower so well, Most of the potted trees and plants you'll find in a retail nursery, have been force fed to grow lots of pretty foliage, in a poor soil medium, with underdeveloped and potbound roots. I know peat is good at preserving cave people and tubulars. But as a potting medium, it's used becasuse it is thought to be cheap, and that's the bottom line. There are conflicts of interest between the grower and the hulticulturalist who pushes peat as a pot medium. A lot of the carp they teach in hort school (and ag school, and other fields), has a bias towards perceived economic benefits, and can ignore for years, better, sounder science. I don't know what i'm going to do - she's already been buying litte outfits! I did give her a gift bag full of baby things for Christmas, making sure that i added some Toronto Maple Leaf socks (Eddie's a Montreal fan, the traitor...). I have a blanket made and i also have a little dress that was supposed to be a gift for someone else and never quite made it. Since she will be a summer baby, she won't need much in the line of sweaters and blankets. I'm going to ask Mike if he'll attempt making a change table for them. We have a crib that he made and a cradle that a friend made, so they'll have that. I can fix up sheets and things and maybe my mother-in-law will do a little quilt. Still waiting for her to have the ultrasound to find out for sure that it's a girl - the ring on a chain said it was! :)

Thanks, all. Bluebars~ The shower curtain is just top & backing. I brought the backing around to the front so didn't even have borders/binding to deal with. The buttons serve as the 'quilting', though I did consider quilting bubbles or sea grass. Instead I just wanted it done. I did put stiff craft interfacing along the top to give substance while hanging. The holes are just button holes. My hangers don't even require me to take them down to remove so they just slipped through the button hole.

Mike I almost did not believe my eyes just now. As I was ready to close the browser I said just a quick look if there is a thread I need to look at before I go out to WATER...you are right about the water bills lol

The things we can tell, IF WE REMEMBER ha ha ha, looking back. You sure had some bad luck going on but when I look at Tehya, Life is GREAT! Isn't it?!

Mike, my buddy!!! So glad to hear from you! I think of you often. So glad you're back!Tehya got so big & those ears......LOL Love all your MG's and the brugs go without saying.Glad your pinkie is OK. My DH mangled his 22yrs. ago, Wow, has it been that long ago? LOL His fingernail grows quicker than the others & it's numb at the tip. I hope your's isn't. Anyway, great to hear from you.

I was wondering what happened to you. Sorry to hear about your finger and the AC. Not sure which hurt more! lol Glad both are resolved : ) Your flowers look great and the yard looks wonderful. I can't believe how big Tehya got! She really does look like a wolf, just beautiful. I can't wait to get that white passie. Thanks in advance and try not to be such a stranger.

Your ears must be burning- Kristy and I were talking 'bout you yesterday, about how much we miss you. I knew you had a good reason for being gone but sorry to hear the circumstances! Glad the pinkie is going to be okey!! And yes, welcome to the joys of home-ownership- it all falls on our shoulders! LOL! ............... Wait! That's not funny!

Well, what a difference a year makes. You have made it your own and it is just beautiful. I love what you've done! You have alot to be thankful for. So do your neighbors! :-)

Welcome back. Your plants look great, you've been busy even with your war wound. The puppy sure is growing like a weed, what kind of fertilizer are you using? LOL

My son had the first joint of his middle finger cut off when he was 3 (2nd husband & not dear) shut the door on it. Microsurgery is an amazing thing & he has most of the feeling in it.
