How do you pot up lambs ear? Please Help!
Comments (3)I've potted-up lamb's ears two different ways. Neither is quick. One way is to do it in the fall and I only take one stem with roots on it. I then leave it to winter over and by the time market starts in the spring, it has several new stems branching out and looks like a well developed plant. I make sure it is well water before I cover it up with straw for the winter. The other way solves the water/dry issue. I only use this way if I have a lot of room and don't mind having a pot visable in the garden. I take a 4" pot filled with potting soil, place it next to/under a stem with roots dangling, then lay the area with the roots on top of the potting soil in the pot. I secure the whole thing with a sod staple over the stem, through the pot, and out a drainage hole in the bottom. When I see new stems (month or so) I clip it from the mother plant....See MoreHow do you know when you're done?
Comments (19)I have five kids (eldest is almost 12, youngest is almost 2) -- they are fantastic, incredible, wonderful creatures :-) We have four sons and a daughter, and our home is filled with the sounds of giggling and arguing and jumping and running and chitter-chatter. My husband and I go to bed every night thanking one another for the family we have. The first two boys (26 months apart) each arrived 11 weeks preterm (29 weeks' gestation) and required months of hospitalization in the NICU, including multiple surgeries, ambulance rides and long nights of wondering if they'd survive until morning. They finally became healthy little toddlers and I had my tubes tied, thinking there was no way I could bear to bring another baby into a terrifying scenario like that again. Time passed, and the yearning got only stronger for more children...I discovered the source of my obstetric problems (a congential gynecological defect) and underwent a grueling seven-hour surgery to repair my tubes and correct my dysfunctional anatomy. Went on to have three more scrumptious kids and now I have five healthy, gorgeous children. It's exhausting, yes. It sometimes causes a bit of financial juggling (I'm a SAHM). The volume in my house is often very high with clamors for my attention or frustrations among the siblings, but it's nothing compared to the joy of hearing them laugh uncontrollably during an afternoon of goofing off as a family. I don't worry about the teenage years -- we've done our best to lay the groundwork to raise our kids with enormous self-respect and self-esteem. They'll make mistakes, I'm sure of it, but hopefully they'll return to their core values and continue to grow into fine adults. Until then, we have years of baking cookies, chasing the dog around the backyard, monitoring homework and tidying up mountains of Hot Wheels and multi-colored wooden blocks with these sweet, funny little kids we're so lucky to call our own. It's all good. Create the family you want, and then pour your heart and soul into enjoying your blessings. If you already feel sad about *no more babies, ever* and the vasectomy hasn't even happened yet, you're clearly not ready to move on -- you'll know in your heart which path is right for you and your family. Warm regards....See MoreNow, you're done-what do you wish you had known while planning?
Comments (68)My opinion on pot fillers. If the pot is too heavy to carry to the stove when the water is cold, I sure don't want to carry it to the sink when the water is boiling. For the effort/cost I don't need one. YMMV, though. I wish I had run my layout by gardenweb members for feedback. I wish I would have thought about a pull out cutting board. I haven't had one for about 30 years and had adapted. Would really like to have one again. The matt white Formica shows every speck of everything! Good, because I can wipe it off right away. Bad because if I haven't wiped it off right away everyone can see it. I live on a gravel road. I rarely use my a/c. Windows are open all the time. The FX stuff I originally planned might have been a better choice. Maybe next time. I do like the look of the white, though. I really hate my upper diagonals but I also hate the blind corner cabs. The more complicated pull down/out doesn't appeal to me. Problem still not solved. I don't like what I have but I don't like the other choices. I thought and thought about this and only came up with the three "I wishes", so all in all, my kitchen turned out pretty good. I am more than delighted to have the peninsula gone and every time I think about my new kitchen I suspect my face has the orgasm expression....See MoreHow do you like your Eggs.......
Comments (33)Over medium with the white done and the yolk runny. Years ago at a Denny's i ordered them that way and when she brought them to me that white looked like it hadn't even touched the pan.I sent them back and told them the chicken was still alive and running around the plate!!!DH wasn't happy,he always thought you had to eat it whatever way they bring it and not make a fuss.I said not me,i'm paying for it and i want it the way i asked for it.He's since gtten used to me,and he'll even send things back now if they aren't right....See Moreneely
