Am I Being Too Cautious?

There is a grocery chain here (Save-a-Lot) that has really good sales and I go there for particular things. But a lot of the the beef they sell is from Mexico. Meat is the one thing that I have an elitist attitude about. I won't buy it at Walmart because most of it is injected with salt water. I'm not so spoiled that I only buy at butcher shops, but I also would never buy meat out of the back of a pickup truck, either. (Yes there are people who go around in pickup trucks here with a large cooler in the back.) Anyway, am I being stupid for not wanting to buy this? It all says it's USDA inspected but it makes me shudder. Also, I picked up some bacon that they advertised on sale, the brand name is Royale. It's a Canadian product and it is uncured but smoked. It's actually really good, but when I tried to research the company I couldn't find a thing. So I looked on the back of the package and it's put out by Maple Leaf Foods in Ontario, yet when I go to their website I can't find any reference to the Royale brand. So while I was researching uncured smoked bacon, I see there are different brands of that available but I had never seen it anywhere. My first thought when I saw the ad was, well, I thought "cured" was the same thing as "smoked". But I guess it means no nitrates and preservatives added.
