Thanks for all the help. I am going to try using one of those steraline tubs and cut a hole in the side for easy entry. I cant really move the box, the bathroom is to small and this box is in the only room that does not have carpet, there are several more down here in the basement but he does not come down here much. My two female cats stay down here most of the time (my office is down here) they do pick on him (they have claws) he outweighs them by a ton but he's kinda a wimp. So the 3 other cats use mostly the boxes down here but will also use "his" box upstairs. He does at times come down here and wee outside the boxes. It's a sealed concrete floor that slopes to a drain I can just wash down with water Yes we have seen him actually do the deed however he does often wee over the top of the box too. I noticed the health food store in town has that feliway and I will try that as well. I am laughing at the Prozac, maybe just give it to hubby instead LOL, seriously though will talk to the vet about it! Honestly this is hubbys favorite cat and the only one of the 4 HE brought home. .Abby is safe till spring at least, it is 0 outside now and the ground is frozen solid, I heard him tell Abby he better "get it together before he can dig him a hole" he calls him Junior so he really does love his cat.I have told hubby he will have to make that decision because I will not, his response was "you want me to make the decision so you can hate me forever for killing the cat" UUUGGGGG I wish the cat had a 401K, pension and SS......we would have no problem.

Everyone always seems to focus on desserts when they have guests with diabetes, and there's this idea that the thing they need to do is to replace the sugar in any desserts with stevia, splenda or some other sweetener. But, people with diabetes CAN eat sugar and a piece of a regular dessert or a candy bar can have a lot less impact on their blood glucose than the rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, fruit juice, fruit, wine, regular soda, etc. that is commonly served with meals and almost never considered. It's not about sugar, it's about carbs and certain carbs will affect different people in different ways. For example, a friend of mine with diabetes would have a lot less trouble with a serving of most any dessert than she would with white rice. Also, desserts with stevia or an artificial sweetener can still have plenty of carbs, which come not just from the sugar in desserts, but also from things like flour. You can make sugar free cakes, cookies, pies, etc., but it's easy to forget that these have plenty of carbs in them from the flour and the sugar may have actually not contributed that much to the carb count in the first place. So, overall, making sugar free desserts just isn't that helpful for people with diabetes, especially if the desserts have other sources of carbohydrates. Honestly, I always just ask people if they have any dietary restrictions or if there are things that I need to consider when making meals. You might be surprised to find that a diabetic guest will be just fine if you make a regular dessert, but will request that you include a salad and other vegetable to go along with the lasagna, potatoes, rice, etc. that you were planning to make.

Equal has added filler such that equal measures of sugar and Equal imparts the same sweetness. One caveat: many sweetener substitutes break down into bitter tasting chemicals when exposed to baking temperatures. That's the reason for special recipes for sweeteners other than sugar. Several of these recipes add the sweetener after the high temperature step, and when this is impractical, only a very few if any, artificial sweeteners can be used. I like "Truvia" in coffee and tea. Its a little more potent than sugar. I believe its about 3/4 teaspoon of Truvia equals 1 teaspoon of sugar. The equivalence is on the label. Truvia is added to a cup of coffee or tea after pouring into the cup. Truvia can be added to a jug of cold tea. I haven't tried or researched if Truvia will withstand the heat in a brewing pot. My recipe for a quick morning cup of coffee: Put into a microwave safe cup: 1 tsp (or more) of instant coffee, about 1/2 tsp or less of Truvia, and a dash of coffee mate. Add cold water preferably from water not run through the water softener. (The local mineral content of your water will affect the taste.) First add a little water and swirl the contents to begin wetting the ingredients, and then fill to within 1/2 to 3/4 inch of the top. Heat in a 1100 watt microwave oven for 1min15sec. Done. Adjust heating time depending on oven wattage and the desired temperature. The contents will expand to near the top of the cup.

I hope you feel better soon Lucille. sisters, the piece you link to is a letter to the editor, not a research report. Even through written with strong conviction, it's an opinion. And even if it were the results of a research project, such things don't get carved into stone until the passage of time and the work of others to prove or disprove reported findings. And even then, stone carvings often get removed when time and further study suggest other answers. I think it's still much too soon for anything more than anecdotal experiences, tendencies and possible trends to be focused on. There has hardly been enough time for rigorous study and analysis.
