Urination problem in a male (neutered) cat
Comments (15)I'm sure you'll have peace of mind on Monday when he goes in for a checkup, Anne-Marie. They can do a urine check if needed to make sure he doesn't have the beginnings of anything. When you said although he looks funny in that area.. it doesn't look like a nugget might be in there, does it? I was reading about cryptorchidism in males but it was very uncommon that they would leave one behind. In my travels, I found a pictorial of how they do a neuter. Wow -- just when I thought I'd seen it all!! This was on very young kitten so I would imagine the incision would be minuscule in comparison to an older, developed cat. It looks pretty straightforward. Wanna see??? Here is a link that might be useful: Easter Egg Hunt :)...See MoreCats suddenly peeing outside litter box sometimes- LONG!
Comments (6)Well I can tell you from experience the cats are probably mad about the puppy. But I'm not sure how to fix it! My experience was I brought home a new baby! A real newborn baby. And my cat of 12 years threw a fit. He too started peeing everywhere that I cared about. He would do it in my favorite seat, on top of my pillow, and even once on me and baby as I was feeding her! I would call a pet trainer. The ones at PetSmart comes to mind. Im not real sure how your gonna have to deal with it. For sure make sure the cats feel loved. I would spend extra time with them. Im not sure if you should go about punishing them when you catch them doing it, or reward for using the litter box. I think thats where the trainer could help you best. Goodluck! Comments (2)I agree. Have him vet checked first, then offer him an open type litterbox. Even tho he's used the automatic ones in the past he may not like them now or there could be something about the closet that bothers him. Have you changed to a different brand of litter during this time?...See MoreFlooring choices & cat that thinks outside the box
Comments (20)Lizza, this may not answer your question but I'll tell you how I solved this problem with my senior cat. He's nearly 15yrs. and never had a litter box in his life, as he was an inside/outside cat. He began having problems holding his urine all night, took to peeing on the bathroom rug. Ok, I have a VCT tile floor, easy to clean, but bothersome to wash rug and floor every day. Plus the rug was starting to smell. Finally I bought a litter box, placed "his" rug inside it and placed the box right where the rug always lays. Yep - he climbed in the box and used the rug. After a few weeks, I began by cutting the rug in two pieces, laying one inside the box. He continued to use the rug.Over a period of months I kept cutting the piece of rug into smaller and smaller pieces until it was very small. Would you believe he was able to aim and hit that tiny piece of rug? ha. Eventually the rug disappeared altogether and now he uses the litter box - only pees. Only he doesn't cover the spot with litter, he goes thru the motions but usually I find small amounts of litter scattered near the box. No matter, I found an amazing cat litter called "The World's Best Cat Litter", made from corn. It's expensive but clumps like crazy. So far I've put it over a layer of Arm and Hammer litter because that's what I had on hand before I bought TWBCL. Absolutely no smell. Easy clean up. The reason I will go shopping for more litter today? My cat peed by the toilet night before last (I take up both rugs every night just in case), and I think it's because the litter in his box was too low. He isn't used to seeing it like that and stepping down into the box. That's my theory anyway....See Morelisa11310
