Thanks for your help! I love that chandelier, too (I got it cheaper, but I've been on a hunt for so long it was inevitable I'd find it on sale.) There's a formica vanity in that bathroom now. I understand why they had a wall-mounted vanity, because the room is SO small. You could do a pedestal sink, but that takes up floor space and would make it look even smaller. My big reason for picking a wall mounted vanity like this is that there is actually space to put stuff ON it. It drives me nuts that all these sinks and stuff in small bathrooms are so impractical if you have to actually USE them. (This half bath is the bathroom for a master bedroom, so there's no way to bump it out, and that costs a ton.) I'm working within the small space, so I'm getting a vanity that is smaller than what's there now, but has a good amount of space for STUFF. I don't love it, but it suits the purpose. I just hate the white drawer fronts (which is probably why I got it so cheap.) the other "motif" if you will in this bathroom is that rubbed bronze of the chandelier (hence the faucet.) I was thinking I could faux paint the front to just blend in with the dark wood vanity, but I could bronze it as a glaze. I don't know - it's probably too much. (Of course I'll change out the hardware on the vanity.) I just need some advice about WHAT to do with the white front. And btw, thanks for the link. That vanity is nicer, and I love the sink, but the actual space around it for STUFF is even less than this vanity. That was my singular concern, and I'm not giving up vanity top real estate!

A couple of thoughts I would not spend money on a hood to match cabinets in a small space IMO they only work in large kitchens . Just a simple stainless hood with maybe glass would be in keeping with your choices. I would not mix metals either in a small space.You will need something behind the stove unless your stove has something at the top to protect the walls. I think backsplash tile is a much nicer look than counter material for a backsplash and that would give you the ability to use the same tile behind the stove to keep it simple. Glass tile in a blue might be quite stunning with the counter and the floor. As for walls I would just use the same color as the cabinets in a matte finish and after all the other pieces of furniture are in place you can decide if you want some color on some walls. I kind of like the colors you are thinking about but I would wait .

Cali - I am big on symmetry and yet this asymmetry never bothered me. Maybe I'm just used to it. Anyway, I don't want to add another big black element so I'd rather have the asymmetry. I rather like this framed look, and painting the adjacent wall might create worse asymmetry. Herb - It is a nice view, and the view of the city lights at night is even better (hard to see in my photo). None of those glass panels are fixed, they are panoramic doors which turn 90 degrees and can slide away to create a giant opening in the wall. So shouldn't put anything on either side of that wall. There is a large space in front of the other wall that we were discussing in the thread. The one with the big vents. I'll have a table and chairs there. So that's what's left to do in the kitchen - pick out the table, chairs, bar stools and the ceiling lamp that goes above the table. Plus some changes to the fridge wall because my fridge and freezer have to be replaced (long story, different thread).

Your old wall color Wind's Breath was a pale gray gold-yellow. Your choices to replace it are all a pale but more pure yellow. Cloud White has a Hue of 55, and both Cloud Cover and Silver Satin have a Hue of 53. I sampled the colors via my photo program, but because paint is a combination of pigments the photo program doesn't catch all the nuances. Nonetheless, the colors are nearly identical. When spread over a wall there will be variations of tone due to highlight and shadow. Northern light is bluish, and will make yellow seem more green. You might correct this by using warm white lighting, that is bulbs with low color temperature (below 3000K). The light in the photo of your kitchen table seems to wash the color from the wall closest to it. It could be a daylight bulb with a color temperature of 6000K or higher. These are great for detail work, but give off a bluish tint. In contrast, your formal dining room light gives off a decidedly warm yellow light. This LINK shows how a bulb's color temperature affects colors it shines on. Many designers recommend you use a pink tinted paint for a room with northern light.
