I updated my Windows 7 Professional, Dell Latitude Laptop 3550, 4.00 GB; 64 operating system today....and everything went well until I keep seeing this:

Kmode exception not handled....my computer keeps restarting because it says it is trying to fix it........what can I do...should I take it to a Computer Man at Staples? or can I fix it? Please help me....

I updated my Desktop Dell Inspiron 570, 2.00 GB, 64-bit operating system last month and it updated so easily.........which I am working on now to explain the situation....I can't use my Laptop...it keeps going on and off...

When you say updated do you mean upgrade to W10? This could very well be a driver issue, can you start the laptop in Safe Mode? pressing F8 key then choose safe mode with networking using up down arrow and Enter key. once you see your desktop screen hover cursor on the lower right corner, click settings, then control panel, then device mgr. then expand other devices category, unknown device may have a yellow error sign, right click unknown device then click on the menu update driver software, click search automatically for updated driver software, wait till selected driver updates then restart the PC.

Yes, I upgraded to Windows 10....sorry about that....I am going to try your recommendations...thank you so much....

It's up to you if you want to keep it shorter or let it to to 10 + feet. But yes, definitely cut out all dead tissue back to good wood--you will know. (Your Aucuba still has enough foliage to recuperate.) By the way, if you think the particular site you have it is not good, you might be able to transplant it. Mine went through several transplants from house to house, site to site, until it reached it's final position. Looked for a place protected from subarctic winds, blazing sun, hungry deer which LOVE it, etc.. Found a location on the northwestern corner of the house, protected and watered by the outdoor shower area. I trim the bottom to keep the deer away and now they can't reach the foliage--even looks 'treelike'! Looks terrific now several years later but you should have seen it before I last moved it, with foliage sun burned from Winter sun, deer eaten and then the rot setting it. It started to recover almost immediately! I would say, here at least, they appreciate some protection from cold (and hot) winds, strong sun, adequate moisture and good ventilation. If per chance it does not make it, don't beat yourself up over it. Go out and buy another. Love these shrubs! Good luck! P.S., some sites advocate raised beds for Aucuba to facilitate drainage. Might be an advantage in Vancouver's chilly, wet Winter. --Here the winters can be much colder but lots of sun too so maybe that helps with drying out in the cold season.

Hi, Nicely done. Couple of questions/suggestions. The sink/stove wall: Are you right or left handed? Typically, if you are right handed, the DW would be right of the sink. That would free up the doorway and make it easier to (un)load. I'm not sure you will like having the shelf over the sink, at least not the lowest one. I'm guessing that the reason the sink is not under the window is to preserve the counter length left of the stove, which is smart but I wonder if you switch the narrow base cabinet to the R of stove (so now there are 2), it would move the stove over L, giving you room to mimic the shelving R of the hood for oils n such. MIght be more functional. Ref wall: Love that expanse of counter but what is it for? Too far away for prep, so is it for buffet service? If so, then I would furr the base cabinets out 2 or 3" and that would get you a deeper countertop which might be more useful for small appliance, etc. plus service (you have the footage). I'm torn with the Ref placement. Part of me gets why it's there - closer to the cooking action. But if you pushed it all the way over to the L, you'd get to use that counter for more food prep and guests in the adjacent room could help themselves to beverages w/out getting in the way. Either way, I think you will get more function from the layout if you remove the bookcase and keep that space free (it's a little tight). You have room to place two bookshelves either on the inside of the entry (flanking passage way) or the short wall R of windows and on the opposite as well. Look forward to seeing your next revision.

Thank you so much!!! Our installers are coming on Monday and we've been 2nd guessing our decision to use larger tiles than the 3x6 you see everywhere. We're going with a darker tile (matte urban putty) but I love the sleek clean lines of the 4x12 tiles. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with removing the stone veneer. If it could be replaced with painted brick to match the left side, that would be ideal. Replacing the garage door and (if possible) lengthening the window beside it would create a more contemporary look. You could stop there. Adding a pergola over the door that picks up the roof color would also help unify the left and right sides, and could make a sheltered, patio-like approach to the lower door. Maybe clarify which door visitors should approach? This rendering assumes that's the upper door, so creates a broad, stepped walkway to that one and downplays the lower door by extending the stone wall to the right to conceal it a bit. (Different approach needed if visitors are to enter at the lower level.) And yes, I'd upgrade the deck railings as well (not illustrated), and maybe add an overhead structure there as @DigDoug showed. (Much more could be done with the landscaping, obviously.)

Tried many times but could not get in Safe Mode...going to have to take it to a computer tech tomorrow morning...so frustrated...I might go back to Windows 7.0 Professional...

If you can get it back to W7 better hurry the option to do so goes away in 7 days, then if you decided to try again, please make sure you uninstall any security software except for Windows Defender, and if possible save/ back up pics. or files on a flash drive or online storage just incase. Security software other then Windows Defender screws up many W10 installs, you can always re-download later.

Went to Stables early this morning and had my laptop go back to Windows 7 Professional....and I am extremely happy....Aputernut ....I did uninstall Avira before installing W10 yesterday because I read your posts.......The Computer Tech was very knowledgeable and helpful.....thank you for your help.....I will have W7.0 on my Laptop and W10 on my Desktop.....and XP on my other Desktop that I only use for photos....I must say and this is only my opinion.....XP was far superior and easy to use........then all these updates that they are given us....so complicated for a Senior Citizen....LOL It cost me $29.99 but it was worth it!!!!

I am a very senior citizen at 72 and I've run all those previous OS's all the way back to W98 and W10 is by my standards the best so far and user friendly and very stable. When it came to us on July 29th. 2015 I immediately upgraded my 1 W7, and my 3 W8.1's, my Dh who is not very techy savy and was used to W7 thought he'd have a problem, but he also likes W10 and is doing great with it, but of course he has me.. LOL and P.S. he is 78 yrs. old. If you had any maleware software, I would have uninstalled it as well, anything like that can cause a failed install of W10. As far as updates they will also go away for W7 Microsoft support has ended and it will become increasingly unstable, and less useful. So I like to keep up with the latest and Boy, do I like FREE. Did the Staples tech. tell you what went wrong? and offer to install W10, prob. not?

Yes, he could have fixed the problem....he has seen it before....he did offer to install W10 but I did not want it on my laptop (it is only 6 months old) and I use it quite a bit....Windows 7.0 Professional is supported until 2020...and if I have to I will buy a new laptop then.....My desktop has W10...and I really don't like it at all! Believe me I wish I did like it....but "to each his own"...maybe in 2020 ...they will have a even better Windows.....LOL....also, I go back to Windows 3.1, 98, XP, Vista, and now 7.0 Professional....so I have seen many changes over the years........thanks for your comments....I had malware on my Desktop and had no problem upgrading to W10......Windows 10 upgrade cost me $29.99......so it wasn't free for me....oh well that is life....
