Do you mean panel ready - i.e. one that would use the style of your cabinet doors?

If so, both Jennair and Kitchenaid make a French Door model that is panel ready for about $3000 give or take. The cost is obviously more since you need to also purchase the panels from your cabinet supplier as well as door handles for some reason. They are also 72" high so they look more built in than other refrigerators which are shorter - I believe 69" is the normal height.

If the reason you want a quiet front design, is because of the SS, then perhaps a panel ready would fill the bill.

I have no real input on F&P except that when I was looking at refrigerators, the salesperson said to avoid because the service network wasn't stellar. That may or may not be a factor in your area.

Smeg has a built in/ paneled Fridge that is truly European style also (goes inside a cabinet on a platform even). You may want to also look into a glass front in black or white Bosch, that's very streamlined, but all these free standing fridges including Fisher Paykel (which also needs a huge air gap) will stick out from their prospective enclosures a few inches.

Aggie - That is true regarding so called counter depth refrigerators as they are not truly integrated.

As a workaround so that it doesn't appear to protrude so much, I am having the counters made a few inches deeper - which is fine with me since I have more counter space. I will also make the side panel deeper so that the exterior isn't so obvious - while still permitting the doors to open of course :-=)

I have also read that people do a recess on the rear wall if there is the ability to create a niche at the rear so that the refrigerator is set further back while still preserving the necessary clearances.

My only recommendation would be to watch out for clearances. Look up the specs of the fridge you are buying and see what you need for the door swung open all the way. Sometimes these fridges have to stick out also because the door needs a clearance to open. This sort of thing is integrated in the planning of the built in type Sub Zero, Liebherr, Thermador et al, and those types of fridges and the hinge pivots within the cabinet footprint, but in the cheaper free standing fridges you need to account for these clearances because the door swings out more now being it's more proud of the cabinet of that makes sense.

Thanks Aggie. I have read horror stories of inadequate clearances and nit just for refrigerators so it’s something that I am going to make sure all involved are aware and have demonstrated to me exactly how everything will function.

With some of the installations of these models, for whatever reason a significant portion of the side panel was showing and there seemed to be advice that the issue could be mitigated be deepening the side panel and counter although it would never look as completely integrated as a refrigerators that was built to be integrated.
