I drive my poor DH nutz with the houses I come up with to save. My latest house was in Franklin NC. Never mind that we have no reason to consider that town. Ever.

This house would have been perfect for us in about 5 years as a retirement home. Cedar beam ceiling MC ranch on a couple acres with stone walled patio and a guest house. It needed the love only we could give it. Plus it was a steal.

I recognize that kitchen! I believe that this was the home of Rosalea Murphy, the late founder/owner of Santa Fe's famous Pink Adobe restaurant. I've been to her home once many years ago.

Love adobe :-). We're looking in Santa Fe too. I've seen this house online a few times. It is now under contract. Things seem to be selling quickly.

I'm a little worried that I'll become smitten with a Santa Fe house when we're out there in a few months. I've long had that area in the back of my mind as a retirement possibility. (Like you said, though, I'd have to keep working til 80 to be able to afford something like what you've shared. Might be worth it though. ;-))

Carol Hartsock -- that's correct. She and her husband live there now. Lynn, it may have been Rosalea Murphy's in the past. I think the current owners are the ones who took in the house next door, which added the studio and some other rooms

Yes, Rosalea died a number of years ago, but I'm sure that she once owned it. Looks like whoever bought it from her estate didn't change much at all in her kitchen.

I am obsessed with a house that, in my mind, I have already moved into . My furniture is placed, M. Bath, closet and the kitchen have been redone... again in my mind. Cannot show you the house because I know the owners and it wouldn't be right to post here. In order to buy it, the owners would have to take $150,000 less than they are asking for it. :(

Mine is a bungalow that is for sale now. SO would hate the neighborhood, he wants a big yard with space. I like that it has a small yard--not much maintenance and I do horticulture for a living so get enough "yard time" at work. I even had a dream about the house last night. But right now I'm living in my parents old house, and since that one is free right now, the price is right. Once I get through mom's things and find a second job, I will be able to figure out where to move to. So in the meantime, I fantasize about that bungalow . . .

That adobe is fabulous! I love old brick New England homes, or really lots of different styles of old homes, like bungalows. Love the examples that FinallyHome posted too!

Our house is an 1908 cottage, which I love, but that doesn't stop me from lusting after other old homes!

Nope -- didn't buy it (if the question was meant for me). But it appears to have landed in good hands, which is all I can ask for a sweet old house like that.

Cote De Texas had a wonderful blog over the last week about Queen Elizabeth and her palaces. It made me wonder if she'd like to live in a new house for just once in her life. Or that just may be my own dream.

There is a beautiful big Victorian I covet. It is in need of repairs and although it sits on a large yard it is on a main street. But I always slow down to look at it.
