Comments (26)I bought 5 roses in those pots this year. Couldn't pass up the price, $7 each plus my 10% discount (VA). I planted them in 7 1/2 gal nursery pots using a good (jungle growth) potting soil. They are just starting to break dormancy. I got, Peace, Perfume Delight, Olympiad, Granada and Anastasia. If they look good by mid spring I'll be putting them into a small garden I'm planting at our local News Paper office. I have 3 OGR's and 2 mini's that I rooted last year that are also going into that garden. Hey, if these peat pots work out, I may have struck gold. The President of North Georgia Technical College (where I work part time) loves roses but she doesn't have time for her own personal garden. She has always dreamed of a small cutting garden. Maybe 10 to 12 roses. I'll pick her brains and see what colors she likes this spring and summer. I'll get together with the Horticulture Department and see if we can surprise her with her special garden next spring....See MoreWally World Body bag Roses
Comments (60)Larry, I mean viruses of mosaic family, usually people just call them RMV(rose mosaic virus), but actually there are more viruses then just RMV. This is quite controvercial topic. Many people especially in warm climates think that these viruses are not a big deal. Many others (I am among them) feel that they affect plants health, hardiness and amounts of bloom. Some data indicate that there is a possibilty of viruses transfer from plant to plant. Again there are differences in opinions on this subject and the actual data are limited. I have nice collection of roses that I want to keep as clean as possible. I am a virologist (not a plant virologist) and I know that viruses in general shouldn't be ignored. Comments (60)Gardening Teenager - congratulations on your rose interest! I learned to love growing things in 1973 when my mother was ill and couldnt care for her plants. Still have the first gardening book I bought. I went from house plants [thought I had to have every one in existence!] then ordered 6 roses from Jackson Perkins and have been hooked ever since [I will be 74 next week]. My addiction now includes daylilies. This is a hobby that you will enjoy all of your life - with me, the addiction just gets worse - the beauty of the plants enchants and the joy of working in the garden brings peace and serenity that is a solace in times of trouble and an all consuming interest that takes up any free time. I just got 9 roses in the mail from Roses Unlimited and am so excited to plant them and watch them grow! Oh and congrats on your body bags - I have them too. The roses of years ago are still here because of a reason. I have many of them and love them as much as the newer ones. Who cant marvel at the huge blooms of First Prize, the perfume of Mr. Lincoln and so many others? Hope to see more photos of your beauties. Judith...See MoreCross-body bags
Comments (5)I absolutely think you should try one, and in any fun color you want! I've always preferred wearing my bags across my body. Not only does it feel like a lighter load, but it leaves both hands free to shop. It's not going to slip off my shoulder and nobody can snatch it away. When I buy a purse with a nice long strap, I do make sure the bag is a little flat and not a bulky one. There are so many pretty Spring colors out there now. Have fun! And get some ballet flats to match!...See More2pups4me
