I am not sure it is not a problem with the picture but even with the curve you seem to like the trunk seems to have a reverse taper making it a poor candidate for a bonsai any time soon. Vance Wood.

Thanks so much to all for your comments! I'm still excited to get these little roses! And hoping that we might be able to tease their roots apart when we remove them from the tiny pots, if multiples are what we do have in each of the six little pots. (No wonder each pot's rose looks so extremely full of leaves!) We'll figure on an intermediate step of putting them into their own individual pots to develop a larger root system before placing them in the ground. After all the losses to RRD, it's good to have some new roses that are safely away from the potential RRD-infected roses here. If some do make it in their individual pots we'll be sticking them into the ground to use as an edging--put them right next to the wood that holds up our landscaped planter, so we won't have encroaching plants from every side. We might also put one or two of the new miniatures, if they mostly do make it, into some attractive little pots for another area, though the area for pots gets less sun (maybe 5 hours of direct sunlight on July 4). Its hard to say WHAT is up with this thing, or where it is going ! hahhhaahahahha It will be interesting to see what the future leaves look like on this thing. It does tend to have larger leaves than the Undulata in the past. And the plants it was with get fairly tall. It was also not this weird last year..It just had a white stripe down each leaf. Thats one of the main reasons I left the flowers on the plants and let them seed last year, I thought maybe some other strange volunteer may show up.. However I can't say I see any tiny seedlings anywhere else. Possibly they would be later to show...

Violet, this bed has been planted for several years. The only new addition was the native aster planted a couple of years ago. I have taken lots of pictures of this bed and the aster was never there before. I have had lots of strange things in my gardening year. For instance, I planted my usual white-seeded pole bean Kwintus this year on the hoop house frame. When I did my first picking I saw lots of long, slender, 'round' podded beans along with the flat Roma-like Kwintus. I am letting seeds mature now and the new round one is a light brown color........I had only planted Kwintus last year and besides this was new seed this year. I am assuming Park's source had a cross last season.
