SunnyDJ - that is what bothers me the most. I know that even when made here in the US, the markup is so high. My first pair of rimless were the least expensive I could get but with the progressives and the other features I needed, not just wanted, they cost me alot more than I thought they were worth. Even hough I loved them cause they were light weight and no distracting plastic frame in the way, they were hard to keep in adjustment. I was constantly, well frequently, having to go have them adjusted cause one of my kindergarten kids would lift his/her head when I was helping them and knock them out of whack. The adjustments didn't cost me but oddly enough, I haven't had as much problems with the last few pairs I have ordered online and now I have a grandson who just turned 3 that I take care of and I've made it through the grabbing glasses stage and playing around with him. I have taken them into where I got my eyes examed and had them checked to make sure the script is correct. So far no problems. I have my eyes checked yearly and even though the chance isn't usually big - I can now afford to get new glasses. If I had to do that with expensive ones, I would have to wait or find another style of frame. They don't like to just replace the lenses with rimless or at least that is what I have been told. You do what you have to do - if I felt that my glasses weren't correct, I wouldn't order from them again. I think its worth a try - maybe for a back up pair at first like the OP was wanting sunglasses.

I had to come back and thank you for the heads up on the Foca and the Out White Brite, Tibbie. I found both at my local Walmart. Like you, I have very sensitive skin and have unfortunately passed that along to DD, who is home from college for the Summer. No allergy problems with either so far. I did a load of all whites with both the Foca and WB, although not presoaking them and, as you'd mentioned, they came out noticeably whiter! We're on a shared well here in our mountain community. As the minerals are very concentrated, we all have R/O (reverse osmosis) water conditioners for our drinking water but it would waste too much of our valuable water to use it for everything. We also have individual septic fields, so using bleach to keep our whites from getting dingy is not an option. My Tide has helped a lot, but the Foca and White Brite have whitened everything up significantly more! Thanks for taking the time to tell us all about them. I had no idea!

Yes, it's smart to do so just for general eye health. I have light coloured eyes and a very strong correction so it's imperative that I do so. I started wearing them in my early 20's because I hated the feeling of my eyes squinting up when I didn't. I still hate that feeling. I even wear them on cloudy days if there is any sense of glare off the roads.

Hmm .. I didn't know they were discontinued but they are still widely available. I didnt read a ton of reviews but the ratings are between 4-5 stars most everywhere... but looking a little deeper I did see issues with fit and issues connecting to bluetooth. I had forgotten that my sister received a pair as a gift from her boss. I forgot because she said she doesn't wear them often but she likes them a lot and says they are pretty cool! She doesnt wear them often because she doesn't often do the activities where they'd be appropriate (like walking outdoors, hiking, kayaking, etc). She wears sunglasses a lot but not at times she needs the bluetooth ... like driving, at her pool, at sporting events, etc. Bestyears, if I were to get a pair for myself, it would be for all the reasons you note. My ears do not fit or hold earbuds in place and I would wear them for walking/hiking when I would want to hear outside noise. I don't love the bulkiness of the stem but i guess that would be somewhat hidden by hair. And yes-- you are correct on the technology used to direct the sound to the wearer. The person I am considering them for does a lot of outdoor activities but I think I am going to look for something else. I feel it would be a personal preference and not one I am comfortable making for someone else-- at least at this price point. Thanks!
