Do you have pictures or vanity between toilet and bathtub?
Comments (4)I used to have that placement before reno of our small bathroom (5x7) and did not like it. The vanity itself was much smaller because of space needed between tub/vanity and vanity/toilet vs one side of vanity being on the wall. The toilet couldn't be right on the wall as well, so there was a lot of wasted space. Also, our door opened up on the toilet not the vanity. I switched to more traditional order of tub, toilet, vanity. There is much more usable space now. This required modifying the pipes for the toilet which is not cheap, so make sure you factor that into your decision....See MoreDo you have halogen sconces above your vanity and toilet?
Comments (0)We're finalizing renovation plans for our 5' x 9' hall bath, and I'd like feedback on my choice of light fixtures. I'm thinking of using three of these 150-watt halogen sconces âÂ" spec'ed by the manufacturer (Condor Lighting) as down lights âÂ" above the new vanity and toilet: Specs: ààSatin glass bottom diffuser. ààOne 150 watt, 120 volt, T3Short, RSC halogen lamp. ààGeneral downward light distribution. ààADA compliant. àà9.25"W x 4"H x 3.25" projection. ààDimmers: Incandescent The sconces will probably be installed just below the 7' level below the 8' ceiling, with roughly 24" between fixture center lines. This leaves roughly 15" of wall space between the fixture edges. The sconces will need to provide the primary nighttime lighting for the vanity and toilet area. (I was going to say "task lighting", but that term didn't sound right WRT the toilet!) The bathroom is 5' wide as you enter it, with a shower that spans the "full" 5 feet at the end of the room. The shower will have it's own lighting on separate switch. So the three sconces only need to light the 6' long wall behind the vanity and toilet (to your left as you enter the room). BTW, the room no longer has a window, so we added a skylight and an exhaust fan years ago. Lighting is not an issue in this room when the sun is up, even during the winter. I'm having difficulty envisioning the lighting plan, because the bathroom currently has the exhaust fan without a light and a single fluorescent tube fixture from HD on above the vanity. To complicate matters, I'm not familiar with halogen lighting except for the two 20-watt halogen lights in my Kobe kitchen range hood. Those lights are very bright, so I would probably use lower wattage bulbs in the bathroom sconces. I'd be grateful for input from the halogen-savvy GWers out there. Thank you in advance! docdom...See MoreWhat do you have sitting on your toilet?
Comments (36)I have a plastic box of adult wet wipes and a bathroom spray in my guest bath, the very latest thing, LOL. And a glass shelf above that, with a silver framed photo of DH & I and a glass bottle he found with some dried flowers in it. But right now I also have a little snowman with bath salts, and I've hung snowflake hand towels on the glass shower door. I have a "thing" for (snow)men, LOL. uxorial~we are kindred spirits. I change the front door wreathes and house flags, and change the display (window clings and lights) in the big picture window, until summer. My family thinks I'm nuts, but it makes me smile. :)...See MoreToilet Seat problems...what kind do you have?
Comments (11)Sometimes men just don't "get it" do they Patti? LOL DH is forever doing things that bug me and he will say,"Well, that looks OK!" Like the bright pumpkin orange paint on the walls in his bedroom! I let him get away with that only because nobody ever goes in there but me or him.I wake up every morning to that orange "glow",(his room adjoins mine) made even worse by the morning sun coming in the window because he has never put his blind back up since the room was painted about 6 months ago. There is a big door opening between his room and mine so I get the full effect of the "glow" every morning.I almost have to wear sunshades.LOL We are shopping next week for a folding door for that opening! I have the oak toilet seats that we bought at Lowes,I think, about 7 years ago.The one in my bathroom has a slight crack and has had for a couple of years but it isn't pinching yet.LOL We have replaced the bolts that hold it onto the commode on both of them within the last 6 months but so far that's all. They have the brass hinges but I hate them because the finish has worn off and they look really cruddy.I won't replace them until I have to though. Those things are expensive. Maybe you should have kept the white one and did something like this to make it a little more "stylish".LOL Here is a link that might be useful: Toilet seats...See Morenicole___
