Red & Yellow Sweet Bell Peppers
Comments (4)I agree with what everyone else has said but, keep in mind, most things ripened naturally on the vine taste way better. In my opinion, that's true with bell peppers as well. They're much more flavorful if permitted to change color while still attached to the plant. So, it's quantity vs quality, to some extent. Just something else to consider. Good Luck! Comments (7)Just added Cham-Way to my wish list so I won't forget the name. I prefer melons that aren't mushy so I bet I would like that one. I didn't go out with my flashlight. lol I looked up the days to maturity for Sakata's Sweet and I think I have plenty of time. It said 75 to 85 days. Going by that, I'll have to wait at least 12 more days. But the tendril dried up over a week ago and the first one that set on is starting to change color so I'm afraid it will be overripe by then. It's funny that such a small melon would take so long to mature. FusionPower - I read somewhere else that the flavor improves after they've been refrigerated so you must be right. Also read that it tastes better with the peel on which is surprising. I had good germination with my seeds but very few melons for some reason. Some vines don't have any on them at all. My other melons and watermelons did just fine this year....See MoreRed & Orange sweet pepper overflow. help?
Comments (12)Lacy, never had pickled peppers :) before Thx, Deanne. I never liked stuffed peppers b/c cooked green peppers upset my stomach. DH said try red peppers,,,, uuuuuu, how decadent. I've been growing peppers for about 40 years and try a new variety every few years to find the best for here. My fav red by far is Red Beauty, then King Arthur, and Red Knight. I tried a new orange Orange Blaze. Smaller pepper, but delicious. Yellow is Early Sunsation mild flavor. I order from Tomato Growers or Totally Tomatoes. Guess they didn't expect to carry peppers when they chose their names. Ajs, sorry for my confusing sentence. I meant I had trouble with my perennial flowers blooming this year (esp. Shrubs like hydrangeas), not a problem having flowers on the pepper plants. No greenhouse, just 20x40 foot veggie garden. I'll try to upload a picture of them....See Moreseed offer: Crunch Sweet Orange sweet pepper
Comments (87)I was sick this season so I didn't get to keep the garden size I usually keep, but I do have a -very- limited amount of seed. I've already sourced over 1/2 of it locally. I have enough for 4-5 mailings of 4-5 seeds. I also have the spare postage from the earlier offer to send it out without a SASE. I'll hold 2 of these for ferret/bdan for a while. Email me at pepperdude@live.com and be sure to tell me your GardenWeb nickname along with it. I had issues with this past offer making other boards and getting a ton of requests from people who were only hording seed. It wasn't a big deal, but there's not enough to go around this time....See MoreDaytonite TN Zone 7b
