Comments (45)My favorite for the banquette shades is the leaf, but it's blue, not green like the chair fabric. I like how the browns tie in with the cabs and banquette, and I like the bolder pattern because it's more contemporary and fun. Are the cabs knotty alder? Very pretty. The leaf, being an organic motif, works good with the cabs IMO. So I'd look for something like it in the soft green. Or something with texture to hold its own against the wood. That medallion style one (the large sample) looks like a duvet cover or a 1930s cotton house dress. I just wouldn't use it for a window treatment. The new fabrics seem too formal for a family room and add a solid block of color to a room already dominated by the leather and wood furniture....See MoreNeed help with flow from kitchen to family room
Comments (3)It's a very open question. It would help to have her go through the different elements in the rooms and identify which fall in each of these categories Hate/gotta go Don't really like but would replace if I could afford it Indifferent/could live with it indefinitely Love/never want to change With an open-ended question, you are likely to get comments from people about what THEY hate and THEY would change, often without respect to budget. Since you say she doesn't like the yellows and greens, the fireplace wall seems an obvious place to start (the green looks truly awful with the rug). I assume that is a paint treatment, so it should be easy enough to paint over. The moldings look easy enough to remove if she doesn't like them. With respect to the paint chips propped on the counter, the cooler grays look like they work better with the counter: the two on the right, and the one on the left. If it's for the whole space, I'd go with one of the lighter colors. Though having noted how bad the green faux paint job looks with the rug, you should also consider how any new paint goes with the rug, not just the kitchen....See MoreDesparately need help with lighting choices for great room/family room
Comments (6)The fixture above in my post is what I would like to install. The below link is similar to my dining room chandelier now, except mine is bronze with cream glass. I couldn't get the picture to upload. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Progress-Lighting-Renovations-27-25-in-6-Light-Forged-bronze-Etched-Glass-Tiered-Chandelier/50131632 I cannot post a picture of my space, hence the drawing, as it is presently under construction with materials and debris everywhere. I hope this helps....See MoreNeed help with family room update - please help me shop and paint!
Comments (2)I think your first task is to find a rug to set the tone for the room. You could have carpet bound in the size you need if you want to stay mono-chromatic. A tone on tone rug in cream, tan and chocolate might add a neutral but interesting touch. It only needs to be a couple of feet wider than the sofa unless you add new end tables that you want to sit on it too. I would keep it 12" away from the hearth though. Once the rug is found, if it has a variety of tones in it, use the darkest shade for your chairs. Be sure and take your tape measure with you so you can determine the right height on them. I don't think they should be taller than the sofa. I don't think the two chairs have to match, and it would be nice if one of them had a pattern to the fabric. Here is a mono-chromatic room, but with a touch of pattern and texture....See MoreRelated Professionals
