Thank you guys so much for the feedback. We're totally leaning towards repainting with a warmer gray or beige. Camouflage might be nice, any other recommendations for something that's classic and also can work with the slightly yellow cabinets and backsplash? Accent colors that create a "Wow" effect really should come from an "inspiration piece" -- like fabric (perhaps for cushions or curtains), artworks, area rugs etc. That way those accent colors make sense -- and still work in the whole space. So -- do you have an artwork or fabric for the space yet? Perhaps a tall one that would go above the fireplace? For example (JUST some examples) How about: Benjamin Moore "Greenfield Pumpkin" (HC-40) or: BM's "Aged Bronze" (CC-231) Both deep rich colors that would make great accent colors -- and would work with colors in the sectional. I think your first task is to find a rug to set the tone for the room. You could have carpet bound in the size you need if you want to stay mono-chromatic. A tone on tone rug in cream, tan and chocolate might add a neutral but interesting touch. It only needs to be a couple of feet wider than the sofa unless you add new end tables that you want to sit on it too. I would keep it 12" away from the hearth though. Once the rug is found, if it has a variety of tones in it, use the darkest shade for your chairs. Be sure and take your tape measure with you so you can determine the right height on them. I don't think they should be taller than the sofa. I don't think the two chairs have to match, and it would be nice if one of them had a pattern to the fabric. Here is a mono-chromatic room, but with a touch of pattern and texture.

Pick out colors or whites like you want. Paint on poster board, or buy the peel and stick color patches and put on poster board. Leave a white border all the way around the poster board, so it doesnt clash with the color you have now. Since you want the whole house the same color, then pick a color that goes in your kitchen with your cabinets etc first. Then try it in the rest of the house. The color in there now, does not go with your cabinets. It has way too much yellow in it. I would look for colors that have no yellow hues.
