Iron Fence-covering the gaps?

last modified: 7 years ago

There is a house I am considering buying. It has a black iron fence around part of the parameter of the yard, including the part that goes from side across side yard to house (visible from street). I have 2 dogs. I like the idea the dogs will have a view, but I'm concerned that they might squeeze through the gaps, or that other, small dogs would squeeze through the gaps. Or that there would be any muzzle to muzzle dog fighting, if any of the neighbors also have dogs.

I could replace that iron fencing with a wooden privacy fence, which would be expensive. But I was wondering if there was something I could use to add to the fence that would cover the gaps and look nice enough for a middle class residential area. There is no HOA. The material to use could be either see-through or total block of the view.

Does anyone know of anything, or have any ideas?

I know I can add another fence inside the iron fence, but I hate to take space away from the yard, since it's not huge to begin with.
