Comments (151)LOL... one word... CATNIP! Lots of it! I think I've contacted everyone that I needed to today. If not, someone drop me a note. We're forecast for severe thunderstorms today through tomorrow night, so my computer time may be limited. I don't like being on when there's lightening even though we have cable internet. Fran, please let me know ASAP whether you hear from Carrie. That will be the deciding factor in what I set up for Joan. By the way, Jamie emailed me and is still trying to get in touch with Kim. I let her know that officially, I'd dropped them from the swap, but if they complete it, both of them, and send me DCNs and post contents, it will have them clear for the group with the condition that they will have to send first in the next MNF swap they join. I felt this was the most fair way to deal with it, if they both complete the swap. I invite her to hang about and get to know folks and she's assured me that she will :) I'm very happy about that! Oh, and I called the company I ordered from and they're putting a rush on the order, and I found out that it's always best to call the order in and request a rush. Have a really nice conversation with the young lady I spoke with. We discussed my theme gardens and she's going to be checking into GW. She's interested in seeing my Gargoyle bed and Naughty Garden and I'd bet she'd be interested in seeing some of the other Goth type beds and any of the themed beds. She was really interested in the possibilities of those. I told her she'd need to check back in a couple months to see pics of mine since they're still pretty dormant at the moment and it will take some time for the kids and DH to get everything tended to, especially in the new beds that we just started working on. Anyway, she was a really sweet young lady and we had a nice conversation and she tried to see if there was more she could do to get my order here quickly. The rush was all she could do, but I should have my order here sometime late next week or early the following week. So I'll be able to have Nikki's box to mail out then. Everything else is ready and packed. Or ready to be packed :) Though the longer I have to wait to mail it off, the more seeds I find to tuck in ... for cushioning, ya know? Comments (20)I think Lindylouwho has a great suggestion. When I had surgery about 10 yrs ago, a cousin & his wife did this for me. They knew I drank pepsi so that was included. Besides the snack stuff, they included some stamps. I don't remember everything, but I remember they cared. Each item was individually wrapped (except the Pepsi)and numbered. I've since used this concept for Christmas for my mom, and she loved it!! Even if your friend doesn't care for, say a packet of peanuts, he'll find someone who does. Most of all, he'll know someone was/is thinking of him. And that's the important thing. Extras in the form of the newsy news someone mentioned would be a bonus if you would normally discuss these things via phone....See MoreHousewives of New Jersey show
Comments (26)Susan, they usually will show lots of repeats on the Bravo channel, especially the day of the night when a new episode is going to be aired so you can catch up if you have a DVR or the time to sit down and watch it - Here is a fast clif-note, maybe not all that accurate either - Danielle got arrested over 20 years ago, and I'm not competely sure why, but it has to do with money and drugs and extortion and maybe even abduction - but she claims it was her boyfriend-at-the-time and his friends, -not her who was involved in all of this. She had been on a model shoot and had just returned and had gone to see said boyfriend and just got caught in the net when she went to visit her boyfriend in his 30 room house. A book who's topic is about people who have committed crimes has this story in it with her mug shot and one of those women found out and got ahold of a copy. What has never been stated yet is if she pled guilty or was convicted of any of these crimes - I'm surprised that this hasn't been stated. Maybe it's being held back for future episodes, but it woudl be an interesting twist if all those girls had it wrong after all. I've never gone to the blogs, I just dvr the show and then watch it a couple of times because I love to go back and carefully listen to some of casual remarks that are the funniest part of the show to me. Tiny? Dead FIL was named TINY?!? That sounds *so* mob-name to me *LOL* By the way.......question! How much do you figure that Teresa and her husband paid for that house? (And, do you suppose they paid 'up front' cash hahaha) I ask only because I don't know how to count that high. I mean, seriously now. It appears to be gigantic, and stuffed with marble, onyx (the onyx was SO gorgeous) and a little granite and hand made iron railings, covered with marble floors and OMG beautiful hardwood floors and did you SEE those front doors (and handles!) to the house? It's not my style of house at all - I'm a simple girl, but I sure would love to take bits and pieces of some of those materials and put it into my own little house........ including her whole closet ;) I'm betting her bathroom/bedroom alone cost more than my modest dwelling EVER will be worth *LOL* *sigh* I sure would love her completely from ceiling to floor marble/onyx bathroom in the master bedroom - it really *was* "to die for" beautiful. Most of the house was just too much for my taste, but I'd take that bathroom "as is" and not be TOO grossed out that it had once belonged to somebody else *LOL* However, her bedroom looked to be the square footage of my house. That king sized bed looked completely lost in all that square footage (like a raft on an ocean) - but I'm sure they will manage to fill it all up nicely. Meet you here after the next episode? :)...See MoreWhat is keeping you from enjoying life?
Comments (56)Many of us feel that we should be kind and generous, and we make a substantial effort to be so ... as someone said, even to the point of not doing things for ourselves. It is good to be kind and helpful, but it is well to accept kindnesses, as well. Some of us give generously, but find it hard to receive gifts gracefully. I am sorry that some of you have had the pain and suffering to endure that has hapened. Also, I think that, especially in earlier generations, women were taught to serve others, to put their families ahead of themselves, and many did that almost exclusively, not doing things for themselves. There's a time to give ... and to love ... and there's a time to receive gifts and love. Also, regarding the love issue ... it seems to me that if we can't love ourselves, we're going to do a poor job of loving others. I don't mean by this people who are selfish, or who think too well of themselves, more or less making themselves king (or even queen) of the world. I feel that if God can put up with me, I can put up with myself: if God can love me, with all of my imperfections ... I can not only out up with myself, but love myself, as well. What's keeping me from enjoying life? Nothing. I'm a happy old retiree, enjoying good health, with some loved ones (kids, but no grandkids) and friends, enough to keep this frugal old character going even though the pensions died, and with things to do and people to see. And give the folks on the KT a hard time, at times. I was looking for my Memeber of Parliament's office this afternoon, and while asking directions had some playful banter with someone in an office ... and they said that they couldn't believe that I was 60, let along 80+. (But don't ask Iva Mae, Dances, Anne, Caroline, Monica, Pooh Bear or Danielle or their families - they've seen me). Hope you all have a great weekend. ole joyfilled P.S. To the lady who was in the car crash as a child, Have you ever talked this situation over with a trained counsellor, clergyperson, etc.? Perhaps they could help you see this in it's true light, to realize that, though you've travelled in a car thousands of times, in only one did you have such a close call. It has been etched on your mind, as with acid, and it will be hard to put it behind you, but I hope that you will make real effort, for it is a shame to be so discombobulated that you can't enjoy the pleaures of a simple car ride after so many years by that one frightful experience. o j...See Morelucillle
